Mineola veterans parade Nov. 13

The annual Veterans Day parade in Mineola steps off at 11:11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 13 along Hwy. 80 from Graham St.

It will proceed west to Lankford St. and then turn south to Commerce, winding back to the east to the downtown gazebo.

Theme for this year’s parade is “United We Stand.” It is sponsored by the local American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts and the Marine Corps League.

Line-up begins at 10:30. Bands, military vehicles and the JROTC from Tyler High School will be among the participants.

Prizes will be awarded in three categories: bands, walking and other.

At the gazebo, the winning patriotic essay from the American Legion contest for high school students will be read.

There is no cost to enter the parade. Entry forms may be obtained from the chamber of commerce and city of Mineola.
