MISD board honors numerous students, staff
The following recognitions were made by the Mineola School Board during the March 20 board meeting:
Students of the month – primary campus first graders Aaliyah Lopez and Pablo Flores, elementary campus third graders Rosalinda Ramirez and Owen MacArthur, middle school campus eighth graders Cayden Jones and Davis Pierce, high school campus sophomores Olivia Hughes and Trey Rushing.
Support staff of the month was Rebecca Arguijo with student nutrition.
Elementary teacher of the year is Wendell Benningfield.
Seniors earning academic all-state cheerleader honors are Allie Hooten, Mylee Fischer, Mattie Sheeran and Brittanie Christopherson.
Hooten and Christopherson were named to the all-state team.
In volleyball, academic all-state honors went to Shylah Kratzmeyer, Jocelyn Whitehead and Mylee Fischer.
Kratzmeyer and Macee Fisher were named to the Rose City volleyball team as honorable mention. Olivia Hughes was named second team utility player.
Mylee Fisher earned first team honors and was named to the Texas Sports Writers Association honorable mention list.
In football, Adam Blalock, T.J. Moreland and Cason Davis were named academic all-state.
Noah Turner was named to the all-state second team as a kicker.
Dawson Pendergrass was honored for several awards including the Built Ford Tough player of the year, two first teams all-state as running back, the Texas High School Coaches Association super elite list and all-East Texas first team and alpha dog.
