MISD board honors students
During the monthly recognitions at last week’s Mineola School Board meeting, the following were announced:
Students and staff of the month
Primary School - first graders Rhylen London and Paisley Hortman
Elementary School - fourth graders Cesar Lopez and Rylee West
Middle School - seventh graders Kenslee Harle and Francisco Anaya
High School - sophomores Riley Jones and Paris Spigner
Support Staff - Mary Ward, student nutrition
Team Member - Jessica Bryant, elementary secretary
Also recognized were the campus principals and assistant principals for Principal Appreciation Month:
High School - Mike Sorenson and Melisia Foster, Middle School - Kendall Gould and Joshua Snook, Elementary School - Brittany Thompson and Angela Shine, Primary School - Jole Ray and James Knabenshue.
In the monthly attendance report, Business Manager Wiliam Bjork said that attendance is down slightly. Financially the district needs 97% attendance to help with state reimbursement. It was running around 96%.
Trustees accepted the bid of $1,097 each for teach laptops from Apple Computer for a total of $59,345 that will be paid from the federal COVID-relief funds.
Annette Pecorino gave the annual report of the credit by exam for Spanish.
She said 16 students took the Spanish I test and 13 reached the 80% level to test out of the subject. For Spanish II seven took it and three made 80% or better.
The board approved a budget amendment to accept a supply chain grant for cafeteria services for $33,224.
