Muralists converging on Wood County
Many new murals will sprout across Wood County next week as Wood County Walls and Murals presents its annual Texas Street Art Festival April 12-19.
One of those will be a community participation project, similar to the unity mural that kicked off muraling in 2022 on S. Pacific St. in Mineola.
It will be directed by artist Ivan Roque at the Eagle Fuel and Oil building at 115 W. Front St.
He will have the train design traced by 11 a.m. on Monday the 14th.
Public participation will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily Monday through Friday.
Roque will be painting another mural, this one an eagle, also at Eagle Oil.
Two murals are also planned at the Mineola Civic Center by BK Foxx and Claudio Picasso.
Patrick McGreggor will be at the APET Thrift Store on S. Pacific in Mineola.
Two murals will go up in Yantis, with Kevin Burdick at the fire station and McGreggor at the Northeast Texas Prairieland classroom.
Luis Valle, who directed the unity mural as well as painting the bull at the Smoke Shop, will have designs at a Lake Holbrook boat house.
Tentative plans for the week include a work night at the Ironhorse Skate Park in Mineola on Thursday, for painting the outside walls.
A meet-the-artists dinners is set for Friday.
Dedications of the murals will begin Saturday morning, April 19 in Mineola.
