Nature Fest featuring Tribes of Tejas memorial Oct. 18
One of the highlights of the rejuvenated Mineola Nature Fest will be the Tribes of Tejas memorial native American ceremony at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18.
Benny Tahmahkera, great-great-granson of Quanah Parker, who portrays Parker in the “Texas” musical, will share Comanche history.
Marla Nauni, model, actress and singer, will perform. Lyndon Alec, premier hoop dancer, a member of the Alabama-Coushatta tribe, will perform.
Chief Moses Hernandez, principal chief of the Apache Council of Texas, and Dr. Marshall Purvis, historian and member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma will also be on hand.
Nature Fest activities begin Friday evening, Oct., 17 and continue on Saturday from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Mineola Nature Preserve.
