The next large mural project for Wood County Walls will be the MPrints building at Johnson and Kirkpatrick Streets in downtown Mineola.

The north-facing wall will host the mural.

Mural artist Luis Valle of Miami, who led the first mural project on the Ramirez building on S. Pacific St., is working with the Musgraves family to design the next mural, to incorporate the Musgraves family legacy of the printing business, art, music and photography.

Plans are to begin working on the mural on April 29 and dedicate it during May Fiesta on May 6.

The mural is part of a county-wide economic development project based on the development of murals and other public art across Wood County, with funding for the project from the Wood County Economic Development Commission, City of Mineola, MPrints and local donors.

Three other murals are in the early planning stages for Mineola, as well as spreading the project to other cities in the county.

Wood County Walls is a part of the Flint and Steel Coalition.

The murals will be the focus of a festival the week of Sept. 16-23, to culminate with dedications during the Iron Horse Heritage Festival Sept. 23 in Mineola.

The plan is to create six murals simultaneously across the county in Mineola, Winnsboro, Hawkins, Yantis, Quitman and Alba.
