Panthers grab one win to open baseball season
Alba-Golden opened the 2021 baseball season last Monday with a 7-6 loss to LaPoynor.
Boedy Baker and Blake Weissert each had two hits and Nick Hallman two walks. Baker drove in two runs.
Micah Smith pitched four innings and struck out five. Aaron Graham went three innings and had four Ks.
The Panthers hosted the Mike Poston tournament and opened Thursday with a loss to Cooper, 9-3.
Cooper scored eight runs in the first and recorded nine hits.
Alba-Golden scored two in the third and one in the fifth.
The Panthers recorded nine hits and had four errors. Baker had two hits.
Kason Trimble threw four innings.
The Panthers defeated Detroit 13-1. They scored five runs in the third and eight in the fourth, with nine hits.
Hallman, Baker and Jayden Green each had two hits and Smith two walks. Green had three RBI and Trimble and Hallman two each.
Green threw four innings, striking out six. Detroit was limited to three hits.
