The Quitman Pilot Club’s annual Chili Cook-Off fundraiser will be held Friday, Jan. 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Carroll Green Civic Center in Quitman. Attendees can get their fill of delicious chili while contestants vie for costume and booth décor awards and the top chili trophies.

The entry fee for cooks is $25, along with a $25 gift card or $50 without a gift card. Gift cards will be used to build high-dollar raffle buckets that will be raffled the night of the event. For the chili entry forms and sponsorship forms and to learn more, visit the Quitman Pilot Club website at https://quitmanpilot.org/

Dale “The C” Cummings will entertain the crowd with his energetic musical talents. There will also be a lively dessert auction and baked goods for purchase.

Tickets to attend and eat chili are only $10 for adults and $5 for kids 12 and under. They are available in advance from any Quitman Pilot and will also be sold at the door on event night. Patrons can also email through the club’s website to arrange for tickets.

About the event, Chairwoman Amy Park said, “This is an affordable and fun-filled event where attendees can eat their fill of chili while enjoying watching the contestants compete for prizes. Seeing the creativity of the costumes and decorations is worth the price of a ticket alone. There are also opportunities to win raffles and participate in a lively dessert auction. Importantly, all funds support our club’s many local charitable works. We hope to see you there!”

All money raised supports the non-profit and all-volunteer Quitman Pilot Club’s mission of providing education for the prevention of traumatic brain injury and offering services to those suffering from brain-related disorders, such as Alzheimer’s, stroke and autism. The club does this with bicycle safety programs, sponsorship of Project LifeSaver wander guard bracelets, scholarships for local high schoolers, sponsorship of Special Olympics and other local projects that contribute to health, safety and quality of life.

The club also recently added a signature project by becoming a program partner of Dolly Parton Imagination Library, which sends free books to children ages 0-5 in Quitman, Alba-Golden and Yantis.
