Police arrest suspect in QISD threat
Quitman police made an arrest Monday evening after Quitman school officials became aware of a threat to the junior high.
According to a letter posted by Superintendent Rhonda Turner, school officials learned about 5 p.m. that a junior high student made a verbal threat to bring a firearm to school the next day.
Law enforcement officials were contacted immediately. No weapon was on school property at any time, she said, and every threat is taken seriously.
Parents with questions or corners should contact their child’s school, Turner said.
