Proud Blue advances in region marching contest
The Quitman proud blue band earned a first division rating at UIL region marching competition Tuesday morning in Mt. Pleasant.
On the experience of conducting the Quitman ensemble, drum major Tristan Wood says “It was pretty scary.”
She’s definitely not calm but does her best to have a steady demeanor.
The mistakes are obvious, but when things are good, she can feel it.
Wood is “super, super proud,” of her band mates.
When the show ended she had doubts, but everyone gave her such positive feedback, and she trusted them.
On Saturday in Lindale the band will compete at the area competition, where Wood is looking for “better.” Her expectations are based on the bands’ own, which include going to state, and not just that of their directors.
