QDC approves sign grants

Posted

Three more signage/façade grants were approved at Monday night’s Quitman Development Corporation (QDC) meeting.

Those businesses approved were Promised Land Realty for $3,000; Southern Sunrise Nutrition for $1,104; and Dr. Greg Eberhart for $375. Since Eberhart is a QDC board member, he recused himself on the vote concerning his grant application, but he was able to vote on the other two requests.

Promised Land Realty is located just east of the square on E. Goode St. while Southern Sunrise is located in the strip center behind Scott’s Pharmacy and Dr. Eberhart’s office is on S. Main. There is still almost $20,000 left in the grant program for new applicants.

Executive Director Rodney Kieke reported he had visited with Mark Breding about the property he recently bought. The site was previously Bella Floral. Breding indicated he wanted the open area to remain available to the public.

Kieke added that Stitchin’ Heaven is moving along with their new building being constructed immediately west of the current facility.
