The Quitman Chamber of Commerce is having a wreath fundraiser sale by the Hometown Christmas Committee. This is an opportunity to brighten and unify the downtown area during the holidays. Donations and sponsorships are needed to help fund this year’s Hometown Christmas activities. Forms for wreaths, donations and sponsorships are available at Speakeasy Coffeehouse and True Value Hardware.

The wreaths are decorated and lighted (battery power) complete with door hanger to bring a uniform décor to businesses around Quitman. They can be ordered for $100. Chamber board members will hang them the first of December and be stored and returned each year for a renewal fee of $35. The deadline to order is Oct. 31. Contact the chamber at 903-763-4411 for information.

A Christmas Tree lighting event will be held Nov. 25, Thanksgiving evening. The community tree at the courthouse will be lit and there will be a brief program and fun for children.

Also on Thanksgiving evening, from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m., the Quitman pre-Black Friday sale by downtown merchants will feature businesses with sales and goodies for shoppers.

The chamber is also sponsoring a home decorating contest. Decorated homes in the Quitman area will be judged. Prizes for first, second and third places will be awarded at Hometown Christmas.

Dec. 11 will be a big day with the Hometown Christmas Parade at 4:15 p.m. Shopping at Quitman businesses and with local vendors take place from 2 to 8 p.m. There will be a special program at 6 p.m.
