The Quitman Bulldogs used a flawless defensive effort and took out Mount Pleasant Chapel Hill 11-4 last Friday in Quitman. The Bulldogs committed no errors while Chapel Hill had seven miscues.

Quitman pitchers Tommy Drinkwine, Mason Reynolds and Landon Richey held the Red Devils to just two hits in the combined effort. Drinkwine had five strikeouts while Reynolds and Richey each had two giving the Red Devils nine total strikeouts. Catcher Cody Hawley did a fine job handling each of the pitchers.

Jack Tannebaum came through at the plate with a pair of singles. Leadoff man Hayden Cook had a hit and two RBI. Ford Tannebaum and Richey each had a double with two RBI apiece. The Bulldogs ran the bases effectively recording a hefty 18 stolen bases. The thefts on the base paths were led by the Tannebaum brothers with Ford getting four and Jack three. Ty Holland got on twice being hit by pitches and another by taking a base on balls.

Chapel Hill took a first inning lead of 1-0, but the Bulldogs came back strong in the second inning with five runs and added three more in the third inning to take a commanding 8-1 lead. Chapel Hill made a brief comeback, scoring three runs in the top of the fifth inning to cut the Bulldog lead to 8-4. The Bulldogs added one more run in the fifth and two more in the sixth inning to make 11-4.

With Quitman leading 11-4, Richey came in to relieve Drinkwine in the top of the seventh and completely shut down Chapel Hill, facing just three batters while striking out two.
