Quitman falls to Harmony after leading at the half
After building a 38–32 lead at the half, the Quitman Bulldogs went cold and lost in Harmony 66-60 in the District 12–3A opener Monday.
After three-pointers early in the third by Ford and Jack Tannebaum to go up 44–36, the Bulldogs were shut out until the end of the quarter, when Thomas Sabedra hit two free throws tying the Eagles, 46–46, to close the period.
Quitman took a 54-50 lead inside of five minutes. After nine straight points, the Eagles started stalling, killed 50 seconds, then hit a three to take a 62–54 lead, which they would not relinquish.
The loss leaves Quitman at 6–3 on the year while Harmony moved to 9–3.
Levi Thompson lead Bulldog scorers with 19 points; Ford Tannebaum added 14; Garin Kisinger had 9; Brady Floyd, 7; Jack Tannebaum, 6; and Sabedra scored 5.
The Bulldogs will take on Canton Dec. 28 at Ballard Gym in their final non-district game. District play resumes Jan. 2 at home against Mt. Pleasant Chapel Hill.
