The Quitman Lady Bulldogs season ended last Tuesday night when the state’s sixth-ranked Winnsboro Lady Raiders scored a 76-20 victory. The Lady Raiders won District 13-3A with a perfect 12-0 record as they head to the playoffs.

Winnsboro raced to a 27-8 lead in the first quarter to set the tone for the contest. The Lady Raiders took a 43-14 lead at the half. In the third quarter Winnsboro took a 60-20 lead. Quitman did not score in the fourth quarter as the Lady Raiders dominated.

Quitman Coach Blake Hamrick reflected on the season. “Overall we’ve grown up a lot this year. We’ve had our fair share of struggles, but we will be better moving forward because of them. I’m proud of our two seniors, Reiny Luman and Carley Spears, for sticking it out and they will be missed,” Hamrick said. “We have a lot to build on for next year and I’m excited about what we have coming back and coming up. These girls can be as good as they want to be, they just have to be ready to put in the work in the off-season to get there.”

Spears and Luman were honored prior to the contest. Quitman will return juniors Kaysi Parker and Maddy Pence, sophomores Addie Marcee and Ashley Davis and freshmen Allie Berry and Sadie Vander Schaaf.

Teams from District 13-3A going to the state playoffs are Winnsboro, Mt. Pleasant Chapel Hill, Mt. Vernon and Mineola.
