Quitman grad named UA-LR’s royal
Junior Brooklyn Marcee of Quitman was crowned the University of Arkansas at Little Rock’s 2025 Homecoming Royal on Saturday, Feb. 22, during the halftime homecoming court ceremony at the men’s basketball game.
The Homecoming Royal is chosen by the student body through Trojan Engage, a campus platform that connects students, faculty and organizations through groups, community feeds and events.
Marcee, a business administration major with a minor in applied communications, said she was encouraged to run for homecoming court by her fellow Chancellor’s Leadership Corps members.
She admitted she did not expect to hear her name called but was shocked, excited and grateful.
“I feel honored to be crowned Homecoming Royal,” Marcee said. “I am excited to see what this next year has in store and to represent the school. I hope to form deeper connections with people on campus and in the community. I want to increase Trojan pride and instill a greater sense of community on our campus.”
Marcee is actively involved on campus as a Chancellor’s Leadership Corps scholar and mentor, a pole vaulter on the Little Rock Trojans track and field team, a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and the volunteer coordinator for the Student Activities Board.
She has been named to the Chancellor’s List for all six of her semesters and holds two Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Academic Medal of Honor awards.
Marcee has also earned several track and field achievements, including four OVC silver medals and one OVC bronze medal in pole vault. She was named Female Freshman Athlete of the Year for the 2022-23 season and holds the UA Little Rock women’s indoor pole vault school record.
Outside of her time at UA Little Rock, Marcee enjoys spending time with family and friends, visiting coffee shops and watching reality TV. She is a makeup artist specializing in bridal makeup, a passion she has pursued for four years. After graduating, she hopes to expand her business back home in Texas.
“I want to make this passion of mine a career and make women feel beautiful every day,” she said.
