Quitman grad sets national mark in college powerlifting
Carlos Flores, 2024 Quitman High School graduate, has set a national record as a powerlifter at the University of Texas at San Antonio.
He competed in the collegiate nationals on April 3 and placed third, setting a record in the 123-pound weight class with a 320-pound lift in the bench press.
He also lifted 445 pounds in the squat, just 10 pounds off the record and had a dead lift of 405 pounds.
The men’s team placed fourth overall against more than 100 colleges.
