Quitman ISD bond issues approved by wide margin

The two bond propositions by the Quitman Independent School District were easily approved by voters Saturday.

Prop. 1 passed 459-227 and Prop. 2 by a 435-255 count. The two combined will fund $30 million in improvements throughout the district.

Unofficial final totals for three Mineola school board seats: Jill Quiambao 257, Glen Dossett 214, Kendall Banks 172, Mike Sorenson 163, Jennifer Abercrombie 120, Darlene Nicholson 78.

The city of Hawkins reports that the lone contested city council seat goes to Jacque Burns with 77 votes to 65 for Norma Oglesby.

Ramey Water District's bid to switch to a special utility district is failing 67-41.

In the city of Winnsboro election, Randy Parrish edges Jimmy Carl Davis for mayor 119-111.

For two city council seats, Trevor King receives 153 votes, Brenda Morey 111 and Brandon Davidson 77.
