Quitman Public Library is celebrating February with displays throughout the library highlighting Valentine’s Day and Black History Month. 

Friends of the Quitman Public Library meet on 2nd Thursdays at noon. The next one-hour meeting will be Feb. 13, so come and expect a special Valentine’s Day treat.

“Story Time with Spencer” happens every 2nd and 4th Friday at 1 p.m. in the children’s section. On Friday, Feb. 14, Spencer will have a special program with stickers for the kids. Story time is designed for toddlers through six years of age, and parents are required to stay with their children.

Board Games for Teens group will meet Friday, Feb. 21 from 1-4 p.m. in the community room. Bring a couple of board games that teens enjoy and snacks and drinks to share. This group is organized by Homeschoolers – Wood County, Texas and is designed for teens only (ages 13-19). 

The Wood County TX Genealogical Society invites family researchers and historians to meet on the 3rd Mondays at 5:30 p.m. in the community room. The next meeting is Feb. 17. For meeting confirmation, follow the page at http://www.facebook.com/groups/woocotx.

Wood County Metal Detecting Club is all about metal detecting and historical research in Wood and surrounding counties. If interested in digging in the dirt and finding things, join in the meeting on 1st Mondays at 6:30 p.m. at the library. 

Knitting and crochet instruction class meets each Thursday, 2-4 p.m. in the main lobby. Students of all ages and skill levels may bring their own supplies and join the group for free instruction. Bring patterns to swap with others. 

Adult GED support services are available for students who have registered online at www.ged.com. Certified teachers are available to offer assistance in reading/writing skills and math on Wednesdays during library hours. 

Online services are available by visiting our website at www.quitmanlibrary.org to find the TexShare® database of reference resources and Libby® and Boundless® for the latest eBooks, audiobooks, and streaming video.

Library cards are available at no cost for those who can provide proof of residence in Wood County and photo identification. A guardian must sign for children ages 5-17. Hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Wi-Fi is available 24/7. Keep current at www.facebook.com/quitmanpubliclibrary.
