The library will close Easter on Friday, April 18 and will reopen on Tuesday, April 22.

Friends of the Quitman Public Library meet on 2nd Thursdays at noon. The next one-hour meeting will be April 10, 2025. Among the topics of discussion will be the Spring Book Sale April 29-May 2. 

Story Time with Spencer will be on hiatus during April. Spencer will return on Friday, May 9,at 1 p.m. with some exciting new stories for our youngest patrons. 

The Board Games for Teens group meets every other Wednesday from 1-4 p.m. in the library community room. Bring board games and snacks to share. This group is organized by Homeschoolers – Wood County, Texas and is designed for teens 13-19. Call 903-763-4191 to confirm game days. 

The Wood County TX Genealogical Society invites family re-searchers and historians to meet on the 3rd Monday at 5:30 p.m. in the community room. The next meeting is April 21. Wood County Metal Detecting Club meets on 1st Mondays at 6:30 p.m. at the community room. Exciting historical research is planned for the spring and summer. Knitting and crochet instruction class meets each Thursday, 2-4 p.m. Students of all ages and skill levels may bring their supplies and join. The instruction is free, and you are encouraged to bring patterns and yarn to swap with others. 

Adult GED support services are available for students who have registered online at www.ged.com. Certified teachers are available to help with reading/writing skills and math on Wednesdays during library hours.

Library cards are available at no cost for those who provide photo identification and proof of residence in Wood County. A guardian must sign for children ages 5-17.
