Quitman Pilots plan annual chili bash
The annual Quitman Pilot Club’s Chili Cook-Off fundraiser will be Friday, Jan. 26 from 6-8 p.m. at the Carroll Green Civic Center in Quitman. There’s always some very tasty chili, coupled with a lot of competitive fun. Contestants vie for costume and booth décor trophies, as well as chili trophies.
The entry fee for cooks is $25 along with a $25 gift card or $50 without a gift card. Gift cards will be used to build high-dollar raaffle buckets that will be raffled the night of the event. For the chili entry forms, sponsorship forms and to learn more, visit the Quitman Pilot Club website at https://quitmanpilot.org/
Dale “The C” Cummings will entertain the crowd with his energetic musical talents. There will also be a lively dessert auction, as well as baked goods for sale.
Tickets to attend and eat your fill of chili are only $10 for adults and $5 for those 12 and under. They will be available in advance from any Quitman Pilot and also on the night of the event at the door. Patrons can also email through the club’s website to arrange for tickets.
Chairwoman Kelle Gressett said, “All of the locals look forward to this annual event. The chili competition is fierce, and all in good fun. And the creativity of the contestants who go all out with costumes and decorations knows no bounds.
“It’s an inexpensive and fun activity for the whole family while raising funds for the many projects and charitable works we deliver to our communities. Come on out!”
All funds raised support the non-profit and all-volunteer Quitman Pilot Club’s mission of providing education for the prevention of traumatic brain injury and offering services to those suffering from brain related disorders, such as Alzheimer’s, stroke and autism. The club does this with Bicycle Safety, Project LifeSaver, scholarships and sponsorship of Special Olympics and other projects that contribute to the health, safety and quality of life locally. The club also recently added a signature project by becoming a program partner of Dolly Parton Imagination Library, which sends free books to children 0 to 5 in Quitman, Alba-Golden and Yantis.
