March 31 

Officer Clint Perkins was dispatched to a residence on Lake Drive to take a criminal mischief report where a pickup truck had been vandalized with eggs and lipstick. Perkins advised that the reporting party knew who had done the damage. He was dispatched to Lloyd Ave. for a similar offense. After further investigation, he interviewed a suspect who confessed to egging both vehicles and was cited for the damage to each vehicle under $100.

April 4

Perkins took a gas drive off incident report from the Hitchin’ Post Exxon gas station on E. Goode St. It was found that the pump possibly malfunctioned because the person used a debit card. This incident report was unfounded.  

April 6 

Chief of Police John Farmer was dispatched to H-Tronics electronic repair store at 419 W. Bermuda St. for a burglary report. Farmer was shown a surveillance video and identified a local juvenile as the suspect. The juvenile was taken into custody and charged with burglary of a building. The property was recovered

Lt. Anita Tucker and Chief Farmer were dispatched to a disturbance on East Side Drive. where after a statement from the victim and documenting her injuries, Pete Ybarra was taken into custody and charge with assault with bodily injury family violence. This case is closed.

Lt. Tucker and Chief Farmer responded to a residence on Jeanell St. to work an inquest of a 37-year-old white male who was found deceased. This death investigation is ongoing.

April 7  

Officer Perkins took a hit and run report at the Brookshire parking lot from a person who discovered damage to her 2017 Chevy Traverse SUV. Perkins advised that he would be doing a follow-up investigation. 

Perkins was dispatched to the Dollar General store for a theft. Perkins spoke to the store clerk and was told that a black male came in and asked for 12 packs of cigarettes from the locked case. The man then distracted the clerk and put the cigarettes in his pockets. The clerk advised the man then told the clerk he needed to get something from his vehicle and left the store.  

April 8  

Lt. Anita Tucker and Chief John Farmer responded to a residence on W. Bermuda St. for a reported suspicious person. The caller told the dispatcher that someone in a red GMC pickup truck followed them to their residence. The reporting person advised that the truck stopped behind them briefly in their driveway before driving around to the back of their residence. The officer observed a black male standing by a red pickup truck in the back yard. Officers talked to the man who advised he needed help, but was highly agitated and appeared under the influence of narcotics. Officers asked the man to let them pat him down for officer safety due to his agitated condition, but he refused. Officers called for assistance from EMS and from other officers from Wood County Sheriff’s Department and DPS. All officers and emergency medical personnel tried to talk to the man and get him to go with EMS to no avail. While trying to take the man into custody, because he was a danger to himself or others, he resisted arrest and assaulted a peace officer. The suspect Larry Moungle was taken to the UT Health Quitman Hospital and medically cleared for the Wood County Jail. Lt. Tucker booked Moungle in for resisting arrest and assault on a peace officer. 

April 9  

Officer Perkins took an identity theft report by phone from a reporting person that someone had filed for unemployment benefits in her name with the Texas Workforce Commission. Perkins referred the reporting person to the Federal Trade Commission to further investigate her identity theft and to notify her bank as well.  

Sgt. Delton Graves made a traffic stop where Marshall Kleinik was arrested for possession of controlled substance PG2>=4G<400G and the possession of controlled substance PG1>=4G<200G. Sergeant Graves transported Kleinik to the Wood County Jail.   

April 13   

Lt. Tucker and Chief Farmer responded to a residence on Shady Bend Lane to work an inquest on a 91-year-old white male who was deceased. The man’s death appeared to be from natural causes due to his age and medical conditions. 

April 17 

Lt. Tucker responded to a residence on Central St. to work an inquest of an 89-year-old white female who was deceased. The woman’s death appeared to be from natural causes due to her age.
