The Quitman Police Department responded to 190 calls for service, issued 30 citations, gave 25 warnings citations, issued two criminal trespass warnings and took 17 reports April 6-20. 

April 6 

Sgt. Clint Perkins was dispatched to the 600 block of East Side Drive for a disturbance. Fred Payne had two Wood County outstanding warrants for driving while license invalid and  dog running at large. Payne was transported to Wood County Jail. 

April 9 

Lt. Anita Tucker, disturbance in progress at Double H Package Store in the 300 block of Richards St. Jordan Wennberg was arrested for outstanding Wood County warrants for failure to maintain financial responsibility, disregard no passing zone, and safety seat system child passenger. Wennberg was also charged with assault causing bodily injury and transported to Wood County Jail.

April 12

Officer Joe Andrade attempted a traffic stop on pickup on W. Bermuda St. with a tail light out. The driver refused to stop and fled west on Hwy. 154. Andrade was assisted by deputies who got the vehicle to stop on FM 182. Andrade arrested Cole Busbee for fleeing with a motor vehicle and transported him to the Wood County Jail.

April 13

Sgt. Perkins was dispatched to a theft at the Red Dome Restaurant where a suspect ate a meal and walked out of the restaurant without paying. Perkins and Officer Kevin Atkinson located the suspect, Charles Rosser, in the parking lot and took him into custody for theft under $100. Rosser was also given a criminal trespass warning for the restaurant and transported to Wood County Jail.

April 14 

Sgt. Perkins served a Franklin County arrest warrant for Sean Patrick in the 600 block of Tamy St. for violation probation/violation protective order. Patrick was taken into custody and transported to Wood County Jail. 

April 20

Officer Andrade dispatched to a vehicle running through a resident’s yard in the 900 block of N. Winnsboro St. destroying a chain link fence and damaging signs, a mailbox and other property. The homeowner described the vehicle that fled and provided a license number. Andrade located the vehicle. The driver was identified as Leslie Joann Lambert and was taken into custody for operating a vehicle without a license and no insurance. Lambert was transported to Wood County Jail. Other charges are pending further investigation into the damage and leaving the scene of an accident.
