Quitman Police Report
The Quitman Police Dept. answered 272 calls for service from July 1-31, issued 150 traffic citations, gave 254 traffic warnings, took 24 reports, issued two criminal trespass warnings and made four on site arrests and one warrant arrest.
July 11
Officer Victor Taylor was dispatched to the 400 block of W. Lane to a disturbance. Jared Lockwood was arrested for assault with bodily injury to a pregnant person and was found to have an outstanding parole violation warrant.
July 13
Officer Javier Amador initiated a traffic stop at the corner of N. Winnsboro St. and Oak Grove Rd. and detected the odor of marijuana. Officer Joseph Gatewood responded to assist. Officers searched the vehicle and found a large quantity of marijuana. James Holmesly claimed the marijuana and was taken into custody for possession of marijuana more than four ounces and less than 5 lbs.
July 14
Officers Amador, Joe Andrade, Gatewood and Matt Al-Flaih were dispatched to a break-in at the First United Methodist Church of Quitman on E. Lane St. Officers found a broken window, and the suspect, Douglas McBride, was found inside the church. Officers took McBride into custody for criminal trespass and criminal mischief.
