Quitman Police Report
The Quitman Police Dept. answered 192 calls for service between Aug. 1-31, issued 92 traffic citations, gave 185 traffic warnings, took 14 reports, issued one criminal trespass warning and made five on site arrests and three warrant arrests.
August 1
Lt. Travis Spurgeon investigated an incident of road rage that started in Quitman and ended on a traffic stop on Hwy. 154 several miles west of Quitman by Wood County Sheriff’s Dept. Travis Toledo fired a handgun at a vehicle with two people in it while chasing them. Sheriff’s deputies took Toledo into custody for possession of drug paraphernalia. Lt. Spurgeon added two charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
August 24
Officers Matt Al-Flaih and Joe Andrade responded to the 800 block of Tucker St. for a call of injury to a child. Officer Joseph Gatewood also responded. Carlos Villarreal Hay was taken into custody and transported to Wood County Jail to be booked in for the following charges: injury to a child, elderly individual or disabled individual; resisting arrest, search or transport; two charges of assault causing bodily injury on a peace officer/judge; and terroristic threat.
