Quitman Public Library awarded for excellence
The Quitman Public Library in Quitman, Texas, has received the 2024 Achievement of Library Excellence Award from the Texas Municipal Library Directors Association (TMLDA), an affiliate of the Texas Municipal League in Austin. This honor was presented to Quitman Public Library Director Delene Allen by Cynthia Pfledderer, president of the TMLDA.
“The library was presented this award in 2017, 2020 and 2022. On behalf of my library staff and the community served by this library, it is a great honor to be a 4-time recipient of this distinguished award for 2024,” Allen said.
To receive the award, a library must exhibit excellence in ten areas: providing services to underserved populations, marketing, community collaboration, service enhancement, literacy support, digital inclusion, workforce development, distinct initiatives and providing cultural, topical, and educational programming.
Of the 542 Texas public libraries, 102 received this award, placing Quitman Public Library in the top 19% of all public libraries in the state.
