Quitman varsity squads win a pair of home games against Harmony

The Quitman Bulldogs hosted a thrilling doubleheader against the Harmony Eagles on Tuesday, Dec 10, with the girls’ and boys’ teams securing impressive wins.

Lady Bulldogs Defeat Harmony Eagles, 44-29

The Lady Bulldogs opened the night with a strong performance. In the first period, Quitman put up nine points, including two two-pointers, one three-pointer and two free throws, but Harmony edged ahead with 11 points.

The second period saw Quitman take control 21-17, scoring 12 points with three two-pointers and two three-pointers, while the Eagles added just six.

The Lady Bulldogs carried their momentum into the second half, scoring 13 points in the third period with three two-pointers, two three-pointers, and one free throw. Harmony managed only five points, widening Quitman’s lead to 34-22.

The final period sealed the win for Quitman, as they added two free throws and two two-pointers, ending the game with a commanding 44-29 victory.

Kaylin Sapp led the team with an outstanding performance, scoring 11 points, including three three-pointers and one two-pointer.

Bulldogs Rally Late to Beat Harmony, 50-42

The boys varsity team followed up with a hard-fought victory. The Bulldogs started the first period strong, scoring 10 points, but Harmony pushed back to take an early lead. Quitman added another 10 points in the second period, including a three-pointer, a free throw, and three two-pointers, but the Eagles maintained their advantage at halftime.

In the second half, Quitman turned up the intensity. They scored 12 points in the third period, with a three-pointer, a free throw and four two-pointers, but Harmony continued to hold a slim lead. The Bulldogs saved their best for the final period, exploding for 18 points, including three three-pointers, three two-pointers and three free throws. This late-game surge propelled Quitman to a thrilling 50-42 victory over Harmony.

Bryson Hobbs shined as the top scorer for the Bulldogs, putting up an impressive 15 points with seven two-pointers and one free throw.
