This week finds Mineola and Alba-Golden headed east for their football match ups while Quitman has its home opener.

Mineola is at Hughes Springs and the Panthers are just a bit down the road at Linden-Kildare. Quitman is hosting Big Sandy.

Hughes Spring takes the opening kickoff just shy of midfield and on all running plays pushes the ball down field for a touchdown. The 2-point pass fails and it's 6-0.

Mineola's first drive goes three plays and a punt.

Hughes Springs' first pass from scrimmage completes a quick drive of 80-plus yards after a pair of long runs. The extra point run is good to make it 14-0 with 3:13 to go in the first quarter.

Jackets driving as the first quarter ends at the Hughes Springs 32.

Alba-Golden has a 6-0 lead in the second quarter and driving.

Quitman has a 14-0 lead with 8:29 to go in the half.

Mineola's drive stalls at the 12.

AG's drive is stopped in the red zone.

Braydon Randolph gets it back for AG on an interception.

Mineola gets a stop near midfield with 2:17 left in the half. Still 14-0 Hughes Springs.

The AG Panthers turn it over on downs at the LK 5.

It's 6-0 AG at halftime against Linden Kildare.

Mineola scores with 12 seconds left to make it 14-7 Hughes Springs.

And that's the halftime score.

Quitman has a 36-0 lead at the half.

Mineola gets a 53-yrd run to start the second half and Dawson Pendergrass scores from 12 yards out to open the third quarter.

The extra point ties the game at 14.

Mineola covers a fumble on Hughes Springs' third play at the 42-yard line.

Pendergrass gets 17 yards on first down to the 25.

A TJ Moreland run gives Mineola its first lead.

The extra point by Noah Turner puts Mineola ahead for the first time, 21-14, at 7:43 in the third quarter.

Mineola holds on 4th and one and has the ball at the Mustang 40.

The Jackets drive in with Pendergrass taking it to the endzone. A 2-point conversion makes the score Mineola 29, Hughes Springs 14.

Alba-Golden is pulling away from Linden-Kildare 26-0, 4th quarter.

Quitman's lead is 36-8 heading into the 4th quarter.

Hughes Springs responds with a drive and is at the Mineola six as the third quarter ends.

Hughes Springs punches it in on the first play of the 4th quarter but Mineola thwarts the two-point play and the lead is 29-20 Yellowjackets.

Mineola answers in one play, a 55-yard run by Pendergrass.

That stretches the Jacket lead to 36-20.

Alba-Golden's lead grows to 28-0 over Linden-Kildare.

Quitman stretches its lead to 42-8 over Big Sandy.

Hughes Springs bounces back again to pull within 36-28 of Mineola with 9:51 left.

This time Mineola needs two plays to answer, plus a two-point conversion and it's 44-28, Mineola after another long run from Pendergrass.

Quitman posts the win 42-8 over Bg Sandy.

Alba-Golden defeats Linden-Kildare 38-0.

Hughes Springs isn't going away. The touchdown makes it 44-34 with a failed two-point try. There's 4:58 left to play.

A personal foul sets Mineola back momentarily but Pendergrass runs it all the way down to the Hughes Springs 8-yard line. There's 3:50 left to play.

Mineola fumbles at the goal line and Hughes Springs takes over with 2:56 remaining.

The final from Hughes Springs gives Mineola the win, 44-34.
