The Mineola Kiwanis Club is placing shade sails at the Mineola Civic Center splash park, and Robbie Ballard with Yellowjacket Welding has finished the metal work on the south side of the park. A grant was received from Kiwanis International, along with a large donation from the civic center, and the Kiwanis Club is raising the rest of the funds for the $30,000 project. The Builder’s Club at Mineola Middle School is selling popcorn to help. Collection jars are located around Mineola. Donations can be made to the Mineola Kiwanis Club at PO Box 326, Mineola or drop it by the civic center. A grand opening will be held when the park opens for the spring and summer.
