Sharon Ann Wisnoski 1941-2024
On Oct. 13, 2024, at age 83, Sharon Ann Wisnoski closed her beautifully unique gray eyes. And, when she opened them again, she was in the presence of her heavenly Father, freed from the struggles of this fallen world and a 12-year battle with dementia. She is now blessed with perfect peace, mobility and intact memories of a life well-lived.
Sharon Ann entered this life on Aug. 24, 1941 in Houston. She was the third child, first daughter, of Marguerite (Bundick) Johnson’s nine children. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Samuel and Zelma Belle (Hagerman) Bundick, and Bob Cobb; mother and stepfather, Marguerite and Elwin (Johnny) Johnson; brothers, Stafford Theodore (Bobby) and Larry Lee Wisnoski, David Myles Johnson; and sister, Nancy Carole Johnson.
Sharon was a humbled Christian woman, a devoted mother and friend to many, who lived a full life and enriched the lives of others.
More than once, she was described as a “handful” while growing up in Cypress, on a dairy farm among a bunch of boys. She loved farm life but was quick to play the girl-card at chore time. As a teenager, she moved to Houston where she later met and married Bill Jordan, Sr. and raised three children and two step-daughters, Dian and Debbie. Through the years, she lived in various cities and towns in Texas, Arkansas and Alaska.
Her hobbies involved staying physically active, traveling and thrift store and garage sale shopping. It is estimated that she walked six miles a day for 30 years. In 2014, she moved to Mineola. She quickly became a lover of all-things-Mineola, especially walking to church for Sunday and Wednesday services, along the way inviting neighbors to follow. Once there, she made it her job to toll the church bell, boldly announce her arrival and “get things started.” By far, her most favorite past time was telling people, including strangers, “I LOVE YOU!”, with the most sincere Spirit-filled enthusiasm. Eventually, dementia took her speech but it never robbed her joy, praise God.
She is survived by her children, Tami Jordan Hunt of Mineola, Traci (Marty) Miller of Mineola and Bill (Cynthia) Jordan of Alta Loma, Calif. And, her “favorite kids” close family friends, Jessica Bibby who lovingly and devotedly provided care and assistance for ten years; and Dennis Alexander, who for 12 years telephoned every single night to share stories of their common interests – God, coffee and running the roads across America.
She is also survived by her three grandchildren Grant Michael Hudgens of Gainesville, Fla., Samuel Madison Miller of Mineola and Sophia Nathalie Jordan of Alta Loma, Calif.; as well as a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Miller of Mineola. Also left to cherish her memory are her aunt, Lanelle Bundick; siblings, Diane Mahar, John (Pete) Johnson, and Mary and Tommy Rogan; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to thank her Central Baptist Church family and numerous friends in the community for all of the love and support over the years – a true representation of how she loved her church and community and they equally loved her in return. As well, thanks to her devoted medical care staff: Drs. Cathy and McMullen; nurses, Jessica, Sarah, Kathy and Sandra; helpers, Dawn, Margaret, Charlie and Burnie, Rose, Louise, Sally, Charlene and Sharon.
We take comfort in knowing she fought the good fight, ran the race and kept the faith. Mama-lu will be missed, ‘til we meet again in Heaven.
Services were held on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024 at Central Baptist Church, with interment at Golden Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial can be sent to Central Baptist Church, 602 N. Line Street, Mineola, TX 75773.
