Sheriff’s department trading off “junk” vehicles

heriff’s dept. is doing a little housekeeping.

County commissioners approved several trade-ins of what Capt. Miles Tucker described as mostly junk, including seized items.

The items will be traded for three trailers the department will use to haul 4x4s to locations such as man hunts and missing persons searches and for environmental clean up.

The proceeds from the seized vehicles will be split according to the standard contract with the district attorney’s office.

Items to be traded include a 2017 Ford Explorer, 2016 Dodge Charger, 2014 Ford Explorer, 2017 Ford Explorer, 2020 Chevrolet pickup, 2017 Ford Explorer, 2007 Infinity, 2003 Avalanche and 2005 Ford F-150. The last three are seized vehicles, two of which do not run and the third with a motor issue.

The others have high mileage or serious mechanical issues.

Commissioners also approved on April 15 the annual request to the state comptroller for unclaimed capital credits from electric cooperatives serving the county.

Those funds are used to fund activities of the Wood County Economic Development Commission.

A change order was approved for the county jail expansion project to add fire doors.

Two pieces of equipment were purchased for Prec. 1, a John Deere compact track loader with dozer blade for $106,211 and a John Deere tractor with shredder for mowing.
