Sneed named Ford’s player of the year
Yellowjacket senior Trevion Sneed added another accolade to his stellar athletic career by being named the Built Ford Tough Texas High School Football Player of the Year for Class 3A.
Each week throughout the 2020 football season, the Ford Motor Company received voluntary nominations from coaches, fans and players for an athlete to be considered for a weekly award. Sneed was originally selected following his amazing week six performance in Mineola’s 55-23 win at Bonham.
A board of sports reporters is assembled by Ford to determine each weekly winner among all those who were nominated. The same board then convenes at the end of the season to select one weekly winner to be designated the Player of the Year in each class.
East Texas was well represented as Sneed was joined as a Player of the Year by Class 4A awardee, Lindale running back Jordan Jenkins.
Ford communications representative Rob Beaird noted that the Built Ford Tough award program is now in its 15th year.
“The program has sparked a lot of excitement in Texas communities,” Beaird explained, “and it has come to be regarded as a top-level award.”
