The Canon Thomas Alvin Pantle, born to Marion and Alvin Pantle on July 21, 1939 in Multnomah County, Ore., was the beloved only child of his family. With no surviving relatives, he leaves behind a lasting legacy of devotion to the church and service to the community.

Baptized into the faith at St. Michael’s All Angels, Portland, in 1943, he earned his bachelor of science from Portland State as well as a degree in theology from Seabury-Western Theological Seminary in 1966. Ordained a priest in 1967 by the Diocese of Tennessee, he served selflessly for 52 years, ministering to multiple parishes in Tennessee, Oregon and Texas. In 2013 he was honored by the Diocese of Dallas as Honorary Canon, appointed to the order of Bishop Garrett. After serving 16 years at St. Dunstan Church in Mineola, Rev. Canon Thomas retired in 2018. The Reverend Thomas Alvin Pantle leaves His legacy as one of true friendships and compassion, and he will be sorely missed.

Celebration of Life for Canon Thomas Alvin Pantle will be held April 26, 2025 at 2 p.m. at the Church of St. Dunstan in Mineola, 600 N. Johnson St. He will be placed to rest alongside his mother and father at the Rose City Cemetery in Portland, Ore.
