Thomas L. Davis Jr., 80, of Mineola passed away Monday morning, July 26, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.

Graveside service was held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery with Pastor Timothy Nall officiating.

Thomas L. Davis Jr. was born in Malakoff on Sept. 8, 1940 to Thomas L. Davis Sr. and Allie Lee (Palmer) Davis. In 1953 the family moved to Dallas. Tommy graduated from Adamson High School in Dallas and at age 17 he joined the Army. He served his country proudly from 1958 to 1964. While stationed in Germany, he met the love of his life, Christa. They married Aug. 26, 1961 in Dallas. He worked for Southwestern Bell/AT&T for 35 years before retiring. Tommy and Christa moved to Wood County 42 years ago and have been members of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church for 20 years. Tommy enjoyed his farm, picking on his sisters, and nature.

Tommy will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandpa aka “Opa.”  

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Allie and James F. Johnson, and Thomas Davis Sr.; and sister, Bobbie L. Duncan.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of almost 60 years, Christa Davis of Mineola; two children, Mark R. Davis and wife Amanda of Van and Melissa K. Davis of Chandler; five siblings, Betty J. Ruth of Dayton, Nev., Wanda L. Duke and husband George of Hawkins, Patsy R. Strifler and husband Lyle of Chandler, Ariz., Larry A. Davis of San Angelo and Linda A. Hedgecock and husband Don of Red Oak; brother-in-law, Dean Duncan of Midland; eight grandchildren, Madigan, McKinley, Avery, Hudson, Landry, Katie, Hailey and Dalton; two great-grandchildren, Axton and Corrilynn; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
