Wanda Rhea Holmes, 83, of Mineola passed away on Thursday, Aug. 19, 2021 in Tyler. She was born on Oct. 14, 1937 in Mineola to the late John Edward and Ruby Myrtle Carey. Wanda was a member of the Forever Young Center in Quitman and also a member of Mineola Senior Citizen Center. She was a member of Harvest Acres Baptist Church in Mineola. She enjoyed playing cards, games, working crossword puzzles, watching game shows, making jewelry and bargain shopping.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bo Holmes; and brother, Johnny Mack Carey.

She is survived by son, Jody Holmes and wife Martha of Mineola; daughter, Anne Tesseneer of Tyler; grandchildren, James Tesseneer of Tyler, Shay Tesseneer of Tyler, Nicole Turner and husband Brandon of Mineola and Savannah Simcik and husband Jerry of Deer Creek, Ill.; and great-grandchildren, Colt Turner, Kendal Turner and James Simcik.

Funeral service was held Sunday, Aug. 22, 2021 at 3 p.m. at Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola with Rev. David Burcham and Dr. Bill Holmes officiating. Interment followed at Hawkins City Cemetery. Pallbearers were James Tesseneer, Shay Tesseneer, Eric Tesseneer, Kent Burks, Brandon Turner, Wendell Utley and Jerry Simcik.
