WCEDC working on alternate location for batch plant
The Wood County Economic Development Commission (WCEDC) is working with a prospect seeking to place a concrete batch plant near Mineola to find an alternate location.
Bell Concrete of Sulphur Springs has sought an air quality permit for the plant to be located on Loop 564 at CR 2724, which is the road leading to the Mineola Nature Preserve.
WCEDC Executive Director Christophe Trahan said they have a meeting set early next week to find a “more amenable solution.”
The WCEDC is also working with city of Mineola officials about other possible locations, he said.
In the mean time, persons primarily living in the area have indicated they will be contacting the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, the state agency that would issue the permit, about seeking a public hearing on the matter.
