Wood County Sheriff’s Report

A burglary was reported on Village Trail. Deputy Andrew Rapp took photos. A report will be forwarded to CID for further investigation.

Sgt. Jeremy Smith took an assault call at Alba Golden ISD.  A student was injured by another student.  The case was forwarded to CID for investigation.

Deputy John Cooper was dispatched to CR 3420 for a disturbance. Cooper was informed the suspect was agitated about being terminated from his job and attempted to assault his former employer.  A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Scotty Glenn Dye, 58, of Hawkins.

Deputy Jonah Croney took a criminal mischief report on CR 4596.  The complainant stated someone attempted to break into his tractor while he was out of town. The information was forwarded to CID.

Deputy Croney took a phone report of a possibly stolen motorcycle from E. Hwy. 80, where the motorcycle was being stored. The report has been forwarded to CID.

Deputy Dustin Green and Sgt. Austin Milbourn, along with DPS and a Wood County constable, were dispatched to an assault in progress. They met with the victim who stated he was with a friend, who got mad at him and assaulted him with a shovel. The victim was transported to the hospital. Waylon Clint Singleton, 39, of Winnsboro was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

March 1

Deputies David Tipps and Cole Hudson were dispatched to N. FM 17 in response to a disturbance. The victim stated he had been out with his girlfriend drinking. When they got home, she got mad at him and hit him in the head with a beer bottle. Victoria Lane Koch, 32, of Alba was arrested for aggravated assault dating/family/household member – with a weapon.

Deputy McKenzie Chandler conducted a traffic stop on CR 4940. After speaking with the occupants, it was discovered that there were methamphetamines and a firearm in the vehicle. Donald James Farris, 33, of Quitman was arrested for felon in possession of a firearm. Charlotte Ann Torres, 51, of Quitman was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 1 – more than four grams but less than 200 grams.

March 2

Sgt. Heather Bailey responded to CR 2550 for a report of a burglary. A four-wheeler, guns and ammo were stolen from the location. After a thorough investigation, Justin Royce Bailey, 27, of Mineola and Tristian Michael Kemmerling, 17, of Mineola were arrested for burglary of a building.

March 3

Sgts. Bailey and Jeremy Smith were dispatched to CR 1540 for a disturbance. The reporting party said her son and his girlfriend had been arguing all day. When the sergeants approached the door, they could hear a man yelling and a woman crying. The woman came out of the residence to speak with officers.  She had severe swelling to her face and lips. She stated her boyfriend had been hitting her. Officers located the subject hiding in the residence, and Leland Kavika-Tai Chong, 45, of Point was arrested for assault causing bodily injury.
