September 8

Deputy Matthew Cooper responded to CR 2697 for an assault. A female stated she was assaulted by her employer’s family member. She stated they had a verbal argument, and the family member got mad and hit her with an object.

Deputy Linda Williams had a request to speak regarding embezzlement and misappropriation of funds. The victim stated an employee of hers has been taking money from the business. The report will be sent to the Criminal Investigation Division (CID).

Deputy Bonnie Sepulvado took a report of terroristic threat. The party stated a family member threatened her.

Deputy Corbin Hanner was dispatched to CR 4141 for a missing child. The child was diagnosed as autistic and nonverbal. Sgt. Austin Milbourn was notified. Deputy Jonah Croney also arrived to assist with the search. The child was ultimately located, uninjured.

Deputy Brad Cox received a call from Pct. 3 constable regarding an inquest. He arrived on PR 7402 and spoke with family members who stated the victim had medical issues. The justice of the peace and funeral home were contacted.

September 9

Deputy Cooper was on patrol on FM 1801. He observed a female walking down the road, on the wrong side of the roadway. He made contact with the female, and she provided her driver’s license. She stated she had gotten in an argument with her boyfriend and decided to walk home. Cooper learned she had methamphetamines in her purse. In a search of her purse, Cooper located methamphetamines, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Amber Nycole Curnutt, 36, of Tyler was arrested for possession of a controlled substance more than one gram and less than four grams.

Deputy Cox responded to CR 3940 for an assault. He spoke with the victim who stated a friend came by late at night, so she allowed him to stay. He asked to use her phone and while he had it, he saw she was talking to other guys. She said he got mad and assaulted her. She was able to get away and go to her parents’ house for the rest of the night. She did wish to pursue charges. The case will be forwarded to CID.

Deputy Cole Hudson was dispatched to CR 1326 for a disturbance. He met with the victim and a witness who stated she was assaulted by a male. When Deputy Hudson spoke with the man, he realized the man was having a mental crisis. He agreed to go to the emergency room to seek treatment and was transported by EMS.

September 10

Deputy Jaclyn Skinner was approached by an individual while on patrol on CR 2263. The woman told Skinner that someone was trying to harm her. She stated she does not live in the area, and she said the threats were made while she was in another county. The woman admitted to drug use and mental illness. The sheriff’s office in the other county was notified of the threat claims, and deputies stayed on scene while she collected her belongings.

Deputy Andrew Rapp was dispatched to CR 6645 for an inquest. The justice of the peace and funeral home were contacted.

Deputy Hudson responded to a theft on FM 1483. The reporting party called stating he was out of town and the lights were on and door was open at his residence. Hudson arrived and found the door was kicked in. The residence was checked for occupants. It was obvious the house had been gone through. The case will be forwarded to CID.

Deputy John Cooper went to PR 8692 in reference to a request to speak. The party stated he believed another individual was criminally trespassing on his property. He provided pictures for the case, which will be forwarded to CID.

September 11

Deputy Rapp was dispatched to the Quitman ER in regard to a possible assault-family violence. The nursing staff and EMS personnel reported they believed a patient was a victim of family violence. In speaking with the patient, she denied ever having been assaulted by her husband and stated her injuries were from work the previous day. A report will be forwarded to CID.

Deputy Rapp responded to a residential fire on FM 17. There were no occupants inside the residence at the time of the fire. The case will be forwarded to the Wood County fire marshal.

Deputy Rapp received a phone call regarding a theft on Hwy. 80. The victim stated an ex-employee had stolen a key to one of the work trucks. He stated the employee refused to give him the key to the vehicle until he paid her money she claims he owes her. The former employee was told the key had to be given back as the owed money was a civil issue and would need to be addressed in civil court.

September 12

Deputy Andrew Morrison was sent to CR 3870 for an inquest. The justice of the peace and funeral home were contacted.

Deputy John Cooper took an assault report in the lobby of the Sheriff’s Office. The victim stated she had been assaulted by an ex-boyfriend. She stated she dropped him off and was in the process of leaving when he reached into the vehicle and tried to turn the vehicle off. He then assaulted her. After the assault, she attempted to leave on foot. He then assaulted her again. The case will be forwarded to CID.

September 13

Sgt. Heather Bailey was dispatched to FM 2225 for a sexual assault. She spoke with the victim and her husband. A report will be forwarded to CID.

Deputy Jonah Croney responded to CR 2359 for an inquest. The justice of the peace and funeral home were contacted.

September 14

Deputies Matthew Cooper, Hudson and David Tipps got a call regarding a suspicious person on CR 3226. They met with the individual who was extremely intoxicated. Scott Michael Harris, 53, of Wills Point, was arrested for public intoxication.

Deputy Cooper was on routine patrol on Hwy. 80, when he observed a vehicle with an expired registration sticker. He conducted a traffic stop. Through contact with the passengers, he was granted consent to search. Methamphetamines were located on a passenger. Steve R. Pruitt, 59, of Mineola was arrested for possession of a controlled substance penalty group one less than one gram. No other illegal items were located in the vehicle or on the driver.

Deputy Williams responded to Hwy. 37 for a verbal disturbance. She spoke to the victim, who stated he sent an employee money to rent equipment for a job they were doing. The employee did not rent the equipment or give the money back. The case was forwarded to CID.

Deputy Cooper was dispatched to a suspicious person report. The party stated a female came to his residence asking to charge her phone. She left once she found out the police had been called. Cooper was able to locate the female, who was found to be under the influence of a narcotic. Due to the circumstances, Shaine Marie Selph, 21, of Hawkins was arrested for public intoxication.

Deputy Hudson was on normal patrol on Hwy. 564 when he observed a vehicle commit a traffic infraction. He conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver. Emily Strickland, 28, of Mineola was arrested for possession of a controlled substance penalty group one more than four grams and less than 200 grams.
