September 22

Deputy Matthew Cooper was working routine patrol on CR 2164 when he observed an individual walking down the wrong side of the roadway. When the man saw him, he started running. Cooper was able to make contact with the man, who had indicators of intoxication and signs of being in an altercation. Jarred Robbins, 19, of Mesquite was arrested for public intoxication.

Sgt. Heather Bailey was advised by dispatch to make contact by phone in regard to a theft. The party stated he had property taken from his workplace. He was able to give information as to possible suspects. The case will be forwarded to the Criminal Investigation Division (CID).

Deputy Linda Williams responded to Hwy. 80 for an inquest. The justice of the peace and the funeral home were contacted and responded to the location.

Deputy Williams was dispatched to CR 2312 for a dog bite. The victim stated he was jogging when two dogs attacked him. He went to the ER to get treatment. The owner was contacted by Williams. They could not prove vaccination, so the dogs were put in quarantine for 10 days and a citation was issued for failure to vaccinate.

September 23

Deputy LaDawn McGee worked an inquest on FM 17. EMS was on scene. The justice of the peace and funeral home were contacted and responded.

September 24

Deputy Jonah Croney was dispatched to CR 3147 for a welfare check. The requesting party stated they had not been able to make contact with their father. Croney arrived and knocked on the door. The man came to the door and told Croney he had fallen earlier in the day and was unable to get up. He said he was in the floor for a while. EMS responded and he refused transport. His daughters came to the residence to assist their father.

Deputy Andrew Morrison took a report of damaged property on FM 2659. The victim stated someone attempted to steal an off-road vehicle from his property but was unable to do so due to a dead battery. While they were attempting to steal it, they caused damage to the vehicle. A cooler was also stolen from the location. He did not wish to file charges but only needed to document the incident.

Deputy Andrew Rapp responded to FM 1799 for a theft of property. The party gave Rapp two suspects’ names and stated they stole numerous items from her residence. The case will be forwarded to CID.

Deputy Skinner assisted a suicidal subject on CR 2482. The man advised he was not doing well but agreed to go to the hospital for treatment. EMS transported him to the hospital.

September 25

Deputy Morrison worked an inquest on FM 3056. EMS was on scene. The justice of the peace and funeral home were contacted and responded.

Deputy Morrison took a report of a scam. The party stated they were scammed of money by an unknown subject.

Deputy John Cooper went to the UT Healthcare Emergency Room for an animal bite. The victim stated she was walking her dog when another dog attacked them. She attempted to separate the two dogs when she was bitten. Cooper attempted to find the other dog but was unable.

September 26

Deputy Croney responded to FM 778 for a theft. The reporting party stated he had a lawnmower and some miscellaneous hand tools missing. He wished to have the incident documented.

Sgt. Austin Milbourn assisted Deputy Jaclyn Skinner in a motor vehicle crash. The driver was suspected of being intoxicated. A DPS trooper arrived and took control of the scene.

Deputy Amanda Dollison received a report of an internet crime against children. In review of the report, it was found the suspect was a juvenile. 

Deputy Rapp took a report of a sexual assault on CR 2245. The case will be forwarded to CID.

Deputy Croney was dispatched to Lynch St. for a theft report. The victim gave a suspect and stated she saw him taking something from her storage closet. The case was forwarded to Hawkins Police Dept.

September 27

Deputy Jim Rapp was dispatched to PR 6645 for a disturbance. He spoke with a man who stated he was visiting a friend when a woman pulled out in front of him and demanded to know who he was. The woman’s husband came into the roadway and got in the reporting party’s face and eventually spit on him. The report was filed for future reference.

Deputy Williams went to a disturbance in progress on PR 5860. The parties stated there was no physical altercation but that it was verbal only. The parties separated for the remainder of the night.

Sgt. Heather Bailey had an animal bite call at the Quitman Emergency Room. The bite occurred on FM 514. A dog came onto the victim’s property and attempted to fight the victim’s dog. The dog was placed in quarantine for 10 days.

September 28

Deputy Rapp responded to CR 1810 for an inquest. Fire and EMS were on scene. The justice of the peace and funeral home were contacted and arrived.
