Wood County Sheriff’s Report

Deputy Jaclyn Skinner received a call of an unconscious male on Hwy. 69. Before she arrived, she was advised the suspect vehicle was in a public parking lot in Mineola. Skinner and Sgt. Austin Milbourn went to the parking lot, where they located a man, having slurred speech, glassy bloodshot eyes and having difficulty maintaining his balance. He also had an open alcohol bottle in his vehicle. Niles Thomas Weaver, 37, of Kilgore was arrested for public intoxication.

Deputy John Cooper and Sgt. Jeremy Smith went to CR 1739 for a disturbance. The party stated she was in a physical altercation with another person. Drucilla Fay McGary, 34, of Yantis,was arrested for assault causes bodily Injury.

Deputy Cole Hudson spoke with an individual regarding a welfare concern. The man stated his wife made a comment to her mother that caused concern for her safety. The woman was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

Deputy Corbin Hanner went to PR 7631 for a call for service. The party stated she had been in a physical altercation with someone. She advised that it was mutual combat, but after the altercation, the other person grabbed her phone and threw it on the ground, causing damage. The case will be forwarded to the Criminal Investigation Division (CID).

September 30

Deputy Andrew Rapp was transferred a call regarding elderly abuse. He spoke with the party who stated her mother was being taken advantage of by her daughter. The case will be forwarded to CID.

Sgt. Smith spoke with an individual by phone regarding retaliation. The man stated someone has been passing by his residence, flipping him off. The report was filed for future reference.

Sgt. Milbourn received a call in which a subject was allegedly chasing his girlfriend with a knife on CR 2427. Sgt. Smith and Deputy Skinner also responded. The victim stated she was concerned about her boyfriend’s well-being. After speaking with the individual, he was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

October 1

Deputy Linda Williams responded to SH 154 for identity theft. The party stated her employer received a claim regarding her trying to file for unemployment benefits. She states she did not file for those benefits and that she still worked at the location.

Sgt. Billy Hill met with a subject in the lobby of the sheriff’s office regarding harassment. The party stated an individual kept driving by his residence slowly. He wished the incidents be documented for future reference.

Deputy Williams took a theft report at S. Main St. in Quitman. The party stated when he arrived at the location that morning he noticed a large, heavy-duty rolling basket missing from the location. In checking the security cameras, he was able to find where the basket was taken. Deputy Williams was able to locate the suspect and the property was returned. The property owner decided not to press charges.

Deputy Jim Rapp spoke with an individual regarding a dispute. The party stated she had been having disagreements with someone she worked with. The co-worker’s husband arrived at her residence causing a disturbance. The party is concerned that the husband knows where she lives. She wishes to have the incident documented for future reference.

October 2

Deputy Matthew Cooper stopped a vehicle on FM 2869 for an expired registration sticker. When he requested a driver’s license and proof of insurance for the driver, the driver could not provide the documents and was asked to exit the vehicle. Cooper spoke with the other occupant. Cooper noticed an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The driver admitted to having drug paraphernalia on her. In the vehicle, Cooper located more drug paraphernalia and illegal narcotics. Timothy John Wood, 38, of Holly Lake Ranch, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance penalty group (PG) 1 less than 1 gram.

Sgt. Heather Bailey was dispatched to Sioux St. for a theft of a firearm. The victim provided a possible suspect. The gun was entered into the national database as stolen, and the report will be forwarded to CID.

Deputy Brad Cox took a call for a dispute on Tejas. The party stated she was in a verbal altercation with her son-in-law. Cox advised if she wanted her daughter and son-in-law to leave, she would have to evict them. She said she did not wish to do that. The case will be filed for future reference.

Deputy Williams spoke with a reporting party who stated she was renting a storage unit with her boyfriend. She told Williams her boyfriend left her a few months ago and believes when he left, he took the key to the storage unit. She said he took all of the contents out of the unit. Due to the relationship with the two parties, the case will be closed as civil.

Deputy Williams and Sgt. Bailey were dispatched to CR 4760 for a dispute. Williams spoke with the juvenile party who stated he and his dad got into an argument because his dad wouldn’t let him go to a friend’s house. He admitted to damaging some property and spitting in his dad’s face. He admitted to using illegal narcotics the previous night. After speaking with both parties, the situation was resolved.

October 3

Deputy Cooper responded to a theft on FM 778. The party stated she had a homemade trailer stolen from her residence. The case will be forwarded to CID.

Deputy Brad Cox was sent to Broken Bow for a burglary. The party gave a possible suspect, stating people have seen him going to and from the location at different times. The case will be forwarded to CID.

Deputy Cooper was on routine patrol when he observed a vehicle without working tail lamps. Cooper made contact with the driver. When the driver opened the center console to get his wallet, Cooper observed an illegal substance. When asked to exit the vehicle, the driver refused. The driver had a plastic bag with an illegal narcotic in his pocket. Raymond Blake Caulk, 37, of Crowley was arrested for possession of a controlled substance PG 1 less than one gram.

Deputy Cooper went to PR 7631 for an assault. The party stated she heard a verbal altercation in a dorm room. She then saw a male and a female in a physical altercation. Based on statements from all parties and evidence on the scene, there was not enough evidence to proceed with charges.

October 4

Deputy Cooper was on routine patrol on FM 1801 when he observed a vehicle with an expired registration. Cooper made contact with the occupants. The passenger gave him a name and date of birth, but when asked her age, gave an age that didn’t go with the date of birth. Brandi Leigh Love, 35, of Mineola was arrested for an outstanding warrant and fail to identify fugitive-intent give false information.

Deputy Matthew Cooper was on routine patrol when he observed a vehicle traveling faster than the posted speed limit. One of the occupants was recognized from a traffic stop earlier in the evening. Cooper detected the odor of marijuana. Joshua Duane Field, 34, of Van, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance PG 1 more than one gram and less than four grams.

Deputy Andrew Rapp was dispatched to FM 49 for a theft. The victim stated she is buying property in Smith County. She wired money from her bank to the title company. After sending the money, she realized the account was spoofed. The case will be further investigated by CID.

Deputy Andrew Rapp took a report of fraud from CR 2436. The victim gave the name of a suspect who was using her Amazon account and credit card to make purchases. The case will be forwarded to CID.

October 5

Deputy Jonah Croney was notified of an agency assist on CR 1516. Sgt. Milbourn and he responded to the location and assisted EMS. Life-saving measures were unsuccessful. The funeral home and justice of the peace were contacted and responded.

Sgt. Jeremy Smith received a call from CPS regarding a possible sexual assault of a child. The case will be forwarded to CID.

Deputy Andrew Morrison was dispatched to Church St. in Yantis for a possible theft. Catalytic converters were stolen from vehicles. The party wanted an incident report filed for future reference or until a suspect can be determined.

Deputy Andrew Rapp took a report in the Sheriff’s Office lobby regarding a theft. The party was able to provide information regarding a suspect.

Sgt. Jeremy Smith had a theft call on Hwy. 80. The reporting stated scrap metal was missing from the front of his building. An incident report was filed.
