Wood County Sheriff’s Report
Deputy Andrew Rapp took a phone report of fraud. The victim’s daughter stated her mother sent a check to Publisher’s Clearing House so she could get a winnings check. Since the check was sent, two small deposits were made, as well as a small withdrawal. Then, a large withdrawal occurred. The account was closed before any other money was taken. The case is being forwarded to the Criminal Investigation Division (CID).
Deputy John Cooper met with someone in the Sheriff’s Office lobby to report a stolen vehicle. The party stated his vehicle broke down and he left. When he went back to fix the vehicle, it was missing. The vehicle was found by the victim a little ways from where it was left.
Deputy Corbin Hanner went to the UT Health Hospital for a dog bite. The victim stated she was bitten by her own dog during a dog fight.
Deputy Cooper and Sgt. Jeremy Smith were dispatched to PR 5534 for an inquest. They requested the funeral home and justice of the peace.
Deputy Jonah Croney was notified of a disturbance on FM 14. He and Sgt. Austin Milbourn arrived and spoke with the party. He told deputies that he and the suspect got in a verbal disagreement regarding a truck that was sold. The suspect told the party he was going to go get his gun. The party did not wish to pursue charges.
Deputy Croney went to CR 2944 for a criminal mischief call. The party stated her mother had recently passed away and that her niece was staying at the residence. The party stated since her niece has moved in, the property has had damage and disarray. Croney advised the reporting party that she would need to be able to provide ownership of the property and then have the niece evicted.
Deputy Rapp was dispatched to CR 3840 and 3843 for a shots fired call. The party stated someone in the area was shooting a gun, and one of the rounds passed by close to them. Rapp was able to find two individuals in the woods shooting. They showed Rapp what they were shooting at, which would explain the round that passed the other individual. They were advised to build a proper backstop before shooting in the area again, for safety reasons.
Deputy Rapp took a mail theft report on Hwy. 80. The manager stated she has video surveillance of a female taking packages from the front porch. The report will be forwarded to CID.
Deputy Andrew Morrison had a request to speak regarding a possibly stolen firearm. The victim stated he was in the process of moving and hired a moving company to assist. The firearm was entered into the national system. The case will be forwarded to CID.
Deputy Cole Hudson was sent to E. College St. for an assault call. He spoke with the victim, who stated her son was drunk. She said he got a gun from his residence and fired it numerous times. He then struck her with the gun. The case will be forwarded to CID.
Deputy Brad Cox was flagged down on FM 2225. The individual informed Cox that a vehicle was parked in the road and a person was passed out on the side of the road. After being cleared by EMS, Brian Douglas McCready, 61, of Terrell was arrested for public intoxication.
Deputy Jim Rapp was dispatched to CR 2220 for a disturbance. The party stated she was trying to enter the residence, when she was assaulted by a family member inside. The other person stated she was assaulted when the reporting party tried to enter the house. The owner of the house passed away and they are in the process of taking care of the estate. Due to the nature of the disturbance, the assaults were considered mutual combat.
Deputy Matthew Cooper was on routine patrol on FM 49 when he observed a vehicle commit a traffic infraction. The driver was unable to provide a drivers license or proof of insurance. Cooper noticed the smell of burned marijuana from the vehicle. Without being asked, the driver did admit to having marijuana in the vehicle. While doing a search of the driver, he admitted to having two syringes containing methamphetamine. In searching the vehicle, Cooper found a scale, numerous empty plastic baggies, two partially burnt cigars containing marijuana, a THC vape cartridge and two plastic bags containing methamphetamine. Sterlin Lee Farley, 30, of Quitman, was arrested for manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance penalty group (PG) 1 more than four grams and less than 200 grams, a first degree felony.
Deputy Rapp responded to FM 49 for a dispute. The party stated he was trying to sell a trailer. When he met with someone wanting to buy the trailer, they got into an argument about the length. The other man left the location and then began to call and text the reporting party. The case will be filed for future reference.
Deputy Rapp went to PR 7631 for a sexual assault. The case will be forwarded to CID.
Sgt. Smith was dispatched to the Wood County Adult Probation office for a person falsifying a drug test. Timothy Joseph Eraas, 53, of Mineola was arrested for false drug test/falsification device.
Deputy Andrew Rapp took a phone report in reference to identity theft. The victim stated he received a call informing him someone attempted to open an account. The report was filed for future reference.
Sgt. Smith spoke with an individual in the lobby of the Sheriff’s Office regarding a violation of a protective order. The victim stated the subject that keeps contacting her has conditions of bond for family violence offenses. The case was forwarded to CID.
Deputy Andrew Morrison had an assault report on Wild Oak. The victim explained that an individual arrived at his residence to give him a ride to work. They got into an argument which escalated into a physical altercation. An incident report was filled for future reference since the reporting party did not want to press charges.
Sgt. Smith spoke with an individual in the Sheriff’s Office lobby regarding a suspicious activity. The individual reported that a vehicle was driving by his residence at a slow rate of speed while recording via a cell phone. When he attempted to make contact with the subject, the driver sped away.
Deputy Andrew Rapp spoke with an individual on the phone regarding a harassment complaint. The reporting party stated her boyfriend’s ex-girlfriend has been harassing her. A report is being filed for future reference.
Deputy Andrew Morrison was dispatched to CR 3230 for a possible harassment. He met with the victim, who explained he has been having ongoing issues with someone. The person continues to drive by his residence cursing at him, burning out, attempting to provoke him. The case will be forwarded to CID.
Deputy Rapp took a lobby report of a sexual assault. The case will be forwarded to CID.
Deputy Rapp responded to Cheyenne for a possible overdose. In speaking with individuals, Rapp observed drug paraphernalia. Randall Howard Robb, 34, of Garland was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Sgt. Austin Milbourn initiated a traffic stop while on routine patrol. Milbourn determined the occupants were not being truthful. Canine Jois was deployed. Due to an alert, Milbourn searched the vehicle. Gina Fawn Toone, 44, of Durant, Okla. was arrested for possession of a controlled substance PG 1 more than one gram and less than four grams.
Deputy John Cooper took a fraud call on CR 4440. The complainant stated someone had opened an account in his name. An incident report was submitted for future reference.
Sgt. Investigator Billy Hill spoke with an individual in the lobby of the Sheriff’s Office regarding fraud. The party stated someone opened an account in their name. The case will be filed for future reference.
