November 24

Deputy John Cooper was notified of an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle on PR 7108. The reporting party stated someone took his vehicle. This vehicle was entered into the state system as stolen.

Deputy Cole Hudson was on routine patrol on Hwy. 37 when he observed a vehicle that was unable to maintain a single lane. When Hudson attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver accelerated and evaded deputies. The passenger, Breck Nicole Melrose, 40, of Winnsboro, was arrested for an out-of-county warrant. The driver fled the scene and was not apprehended. The case was forwarded to the Criminal Investigation Division (CID).

Deputies Andrew Rapp and Andrew Morrison responded to Farrington for a disturbance. It was determined this was an ongoing family violence issue. The report will be forwarded to CID.

November 25

Deputy Rapp took a phone call for harassment. The victim stated an individual who once worked for him was texting and harassing him. The incident was filed for future reference.

Deputy Morrison had a phone report regarding criminal mischief. The party stated he was on his way home from a family gathering when another person rammed his vehicle with theirs. The victim stopped in Hawkins where the other person got out of the vehicle and assaulted him. The criminal mischief will be forwarded to CID.

November 26

Deputy Brad Cox was dispatched to an inquest on CR 3875. The Hainesville Fire Department and EMS were on scene prior to Cox’s arrival. The justice of the peace and funeral home were contacted.

Deputy Jonah Croney and Sgt. Austin Milbourn were on Hwy. 37 when they were passed by a vehicle at a high rate of speed. The deputies attempted to make a traffic stop, but the driver did not pull over. The vehicle was finally stopped in the parking lot of a business. The driver, Carlton Dean Driver, 19, of Winnsboro, was arrested for driving while intoxicated and reckless driving.

Deputy Corbin Hanner responded to a disturbance on Hwy. 154. Both parties were intoxicated and the disturbance was verbal only, so the parties were separated for the night. The report will be filed for future reference.

Sgt. Heather Bailey took a sexual assault report in the lobby of the Wood County Sheriff’s Office. The report will be forwarded to CID.

November 27

Deputy Jeff Baldwin went to the Christus Mother Francis Hospital in Winnsboro regarding an animal bite.  The victim stated they were checking the mail when their neighbor’s dog and another dog ran up to them. One of the dogs bit them on the leg. The report will be filed for future reference.

Deputy Hudson was contacted by an officer from another agency in reference to a possible stolen trailer on Hwy. 69. The trailer was picked up by a wrecker service and a hold was placed on it. It will be forwarded to CID.

Deputy Brad Cox and Deputy Jim Rapp responded to PR 7912 for a 911 hang up. The individuals at the location had been involved in a verbal altercation. One of the brothers had hit the other. Due to neither party wishing to file charges, they were separated.

Deputy Jim Rapp had an inquest on Alamosa Lane. The justice of the peace and funeral home were contacted.

Deputy Rapp responded to an inquest on Holly Hill Circle. The justice of the peace and funeral home were contacted.

November 28

Deputy Matthew Cooper took a theft report on CR 3955. The victim stated he went out the night before and met a female. They returned to his residence. While he was in the shower, the woman took his car, without his permission. The vehicle was entered into the state system. The vehicle was later recovered by another agency.

Sgt. Bailey responded to Village Trail in regard to a disturbance in progress. A female stated they were in an argument when the male subject assaulted her. Marshall Nathan Freeman, 37, of Mineola, was arrested for assault by contact.

November 29

Deputy Croney was dispatched to CR 2724 for an animal complaint. The party stated they were driving down the road when they observed a dead deer in the ditch. The deer had been quartered and decapitated. The case was forwarded to state game wardens.

Deputy Andrew Morrison went to FM 2869 for a theft report. The party stated two vehicles had been damaged. The catalytic converters were stolen from the vehicles. The report was forwarded to CID.

Deputy Cooper was on routine patrol when he observed a vehicle parked in the middle of FM 2869. He made contact with the driver, who was asleep. Justin Wayne Boone, 26, of Hawkins, was arrested for public intoxication.

Deputy Hanner made contact with a suicidal subject on CR 4990. The man stated he had consumed a large amount of alcohol and was having suicidal thoughts. He agreed to be transported to the emergency room for treatment.

Deputy Cooper and Deputy Morrison were dispatched to Yantis for a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the emergency room. 

Deputy Morrison went to CR 2122 for a criminal trespass and possible terroristic threat report. The party stated his brother had been at his residence arguing over finances. His brother then started making threats toward him. Morrison spoke with the brother, telling him he was no longer allowed to go back to his brother’s house. Both appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.

Deputy Andrew Rapp took a phone report regarding a violation of a protective order. The victim stated she has a protective order that is in effect for 10 years. The person she is protected from has been sending her messages and phone calls. The case will be forwarded to CID.

Deputy Rapp was sent to FM 1254 for a burglary of a building. The reporting party reported multiple items stolen. The report will be forwarded to CID.

Deputy John Cooper was dispatched to CR 1336 for a theft. The property owner reported items stolen from the location. The case was forwarded to CID.

November 30

Deputy Croney took a theft report on CR 2298. The party stated she noticed property had been stolen from her residence while she was at work. The case was forwarded to CID.

Deputy Rapp had a phone report in reference to invasive visual recording. The party stated she found a camera and SD card in her bedroom. She was able to view the card and identified her neighbor as being the one placing the camera in her room. The case was forwarded to CID.

Deputy Rapp was transferred a phone call in reference to a dog bite. The victim stated she was inspecting a residence when one of the homeowner’s dogs bit her. The dog will be quarantined for the required 10 days, and the owner was able to provide vaccination records.
