December 1

Deputy Jeff Baldwin took a sexual assault call on CR 4135. While at the location, it was discovered that a sexual assault of a child had also occurred. The Criminal Investigation Division (CID) will be investigating.

Deputy Jim Rapp spoke with an individual in the lobby of the Sheriff’s Office regarding a violation of a protective order. The party stated her husband, who she is protected from, has been contacting her. The case will be forwarded to CID.

Deputy Linda Williams had an animal complaint on CR 4490. The person stated their dog was attacked by a neighbor’s dog. Contact was made with the neighbor and it was determined their dog was injured and would need medical treatment. Information for dangerous dogs was given, and the dog owner was advised he needed to keep the dog in a fence.

Sgt. Billy Hill met with an individual in the lobby of the Sheriff’s Office to take a report of an identity theft. The report will be filed for future reference.

December 2

Deputy Rapp was dispatched to Candle Light Path regarding an inquest. The justice of the peace and the funeral home were contacted.

Deputy Rapp responded to a burglary on Alamosa Lane. The party stated numerous items were taken.  There is video recording of the suspect. The case will be investigated by CID.

Deputy Rapp took a report of a vehicle burglary on PR 6601. The victim stated she left some property in her vehicle for about an hour. When she went back  to the vehicle, the property was missing. Extra patrol was requested and CID will be investigating.

Deputy Williams went to an inquest on CR 1576. The justice of the peace and funeral home were contacted.

Deputy Matthew Cooper was working routine patrol on Hwy. 154 when he observed a vehicle fail to stop at the designated point. During the stop, there was reason to believe there were illegal narcotics in the vehicle. Constable Smith responded and deployed his canine. David Justin McLoughlin, 42, of Dallas was arrested for possession of a controlled substance penalty (PG) 1 <1g.

Deputy Cole Hudson met with an individual regarding a missing person on CR 3245. Hudson, Deputy Baldwin and a Mineola police officer checked several locations for the missing person. Mineola police later found the missing person.

December 3

Deputy Jonah Croney had an inquest on CR 1912. The justice of the peace and funeral home were notified.

Deputy John Cooper and Sgt. Corbin Hanner were dispatched to CR 2700 in reference to a disturbance. The party stated he and his father were in a physical altercation earlier in the evening. The parties were separated for the evening, and the case was forwarded to CID.

Deputy Andrew Morrison responded to a possibly suicidal person on Hwy. 154. Morrison was able to speak with the subject, who agreed to go to the hospital on his own.

Deputy Morrison had a request to speak regarding a credit card. The party stated someone had gotten her credit card information and attempted to make several purchases. The report will be filed for future reference.

December 4

Deputy Jonah Croney and Sgt. Hanner took an assault after the fact on Arapaho. After speaking with several people on scene, Jacob Scott Jones, 40, of Quitman, was arrested for assault of a pregnant person.

Deputy Croney was contacted regarding a burglary on FM 2966. The party informed Croney of several firearms being stolen from the location. Several suspects have been identified, and CID will be working on the case.

Deputy Andrew Rapp received a phone call from an individual regarding a violation of a protective order. The party stated her husband is prohibited from making contact with her but continues to do so. CID was contacted and the case is being further investigated.

December 5

Deputy Croney took a report of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle from CR 1431. The victim stated he had someone do some work on his vehicle. When he went to pay for the vehicle and pick it up, the vehicle was gone. The case was forwarded to CID.

Deputy Rapp was dispatched to CR 2870 for a disturbance in progress. The involved parties advised the altercation was accidental and neither party wished to press charges. They agreed to separate for a couple of days.

Deputy Morrison responded to CR 3990 for an assault. Individuals advised they were threatened by someone who lived on the property. A citation was issued for assault by threat.

Deputy Rapp took a report of a stolen handgun. The gun was entered into the state system and the case will be forwarded to CID.

Deputy Morrison went to Walker St. in regard to a possible burglary. The victim stated they have a residence that is for sale. The residence has received some damage and items were taken from the location. The party stated they wished to have an incident report done.

Deputy Croney was notified of a disturbance in progress on CR 1970. Sgt. Hanner, Sgt. Austin Milbourn and Deputy Cooper also responded. They spoke with individuals on scene. It was determined one person to be moving out of the residence, while the other occupant and her boyfriend were there. The two men began fighting. This case will be forwarded to CID.

Deputy Cooper and Sgt. Hanner had a call of an unresponsive subject in a vehicle on Hwy. 154. Eli Porter McCorkle, 44, of Josephine was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

December 6

Deputy Jim Rapp was dispatched to CR 2210 for a disturbance in progress. He spoke with the involved parties. Burton Allen Becton, 56, of Mineola was arrested for assault causes bodily injury – family violence.

Deputy Rapp took a report of identity theft. The report will be filed for future reference.

Sgt. Heather Bailey and Deputy Williams responded to a theft on CR 1475. Suspects have been identified. The case will be forwarded to CID.

Deputy Jim Rapp was contacted regarding harassment. The party stated they were being harassed through social media. The report will be forwarded to CID.

December 7

Sgt. Jaclyn Skinner conducted a subject stop on an individual on CR 1350 for walking on the wrong side of the roadway. While speaking with the individual, he admitted to possessing drug paraphernalia. Skinner located a firearm on him. Alan Wayne Phipps, 40, of Quitman was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

Deputy Matthew Cooper was on routine patrol on Hwy. 37 when he observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation. During the traffic stop, drug paraphernalia was laying in plain view. A search of the vehicle resulted in the arrest of Benjamin James Howard, 30, of Quitman for possession of a controlled substance PG 1 <1g.
