December 29

Deputy Jeff Baldwin and Sgt. Jaclyn Skinner responded to a disturbance on Hwy. 37. The female party caused damage to the male subject’s vehicle during the disturbance, but neither party wished to press charges.

Deputy Brad Cox took a theft call on FM 14. The party stated a hunting bow was stolen from his residence. He was able to give a possible suspect. The case will be filed.

Deputy Rapp checked on a residence with an activated alarm on CR 2930. The house was secure and contact was made with the keyholder.

Deputy Rapp took a phone report of harassment. The party advised her boyfriend’s ex-girlfriend has been harassing her. The report will be forwarded to the Criminal Investigation Division (CID).

Deputy John Cooper had a complaint of loud noise on CR 4536. The party stated their neighbor was playing loud music and making a lot of noise with power tools. The neighbor was contacted and stated they would turn down the music.

Deputy Melissa Pollard was dispatched to CR 3849 for an animal complaint. The party stated the neighbor behind them had several dogs that had attacked and injured her dog. They also tear up garbage. A report will be filed for future reference.

Deputy Pollard responded to an alarm on PR 5983. She checked the location and found all doors and windows secure. Contact was made with the homeowner.

Deputy Linda Williams was advised of an alarm call on PR 5980. She made contact with the cleaning lady, who had set off the alarm accidentally.

December 30

Deputy Rapp was advised of illegal dumping. Pictures were taken and items were removed. The report will be filed for future reference.

Deputy Rapp was dispatched to CR 2146 for a disturbance. He spoke with a male who stated he and his girlfriend were arguing over someone moving in with them. Things were worked out and no charges were filed.

Deputy Williams had an inquest on CR 1360. The funeral home and justice of the peace were contacted.

Deputy Matthew Cooper and Sgt. Skinner responded to a disturbance on CR 3426. The female advised she was doing dishes when her husband asked for food. An argument began, although nothing became physical. Due to the female’s intoxicated state, the husband left the residence and the wife was advised to go to bed.

Deputy Williams received notification of a person in a mental health crisis on PR 8873. The individual voluntarily went to the hospital for evaluation.

Deputy Rapp responded to CR 2840 for a forgery of a financial instrument call. He spoke with the manager of the business who stated an employee had stolen two checks and forged them. Matthew Dalton Brewer, 17, of Mineola, was arrested for forgery of financial instrument.

Deputy Rapp was advised of illegal dumping on CR 1124. Photographs were taken and the items were removed. The case will be filed for future reference.

Deputy Cox was on routine patrol on FM 2869 when he observed several vehicles with hazard lights on. A male was laying on the ground. Witnesses said the male was riding his bike when a dog came from the nearby residence, running in front of the cyclist causing him to strike the dog. Minor injuries were noted.

Deputy Cooper was on routine patrol on FM 49 when he observed a vehicle commit a traffic infraction. Cooper noticed a two-year-old male in the back seat. While speaking with the driver, he noticed nervousness, extreme shaking and heavy breathing. When asked about the contents of her pockets, she removed methamphetamines. Sgt. Skinner arrived. The driver admitted that she planned on selling the methamphetamines. Desiree Nicole Legg, 41, of Lindale was arrested for manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance Penalty Group (PG) one more than one gram and abandon/endangering a child.

December 31

Deputy Baldwin was advised of a disturbance on Whitefoot. He spoke with the reporting party, who stated five to six male subjects came to the location and got into a physical altercation with her grandson. The grandson would not cooperate with the investigation.

Deputy Cooper responded to CR 3924 for a suspicious circumstance. The party stated she heard noise inside her house, coming from her Alexa. The residence was checked and everything was fine.

Deputy Andrew Morrison had a request to speak regarding stray dogs. A few options were given as to possible resolutions.

Sgt. Austin Milbourn was on routine patrol when he observed a man urinating on the side of Hwy. 37. He spoke with the man, who confirmed what he was doing. Milbourn advised the subject that it was illegal. The man understood and left the location.

Deputy Morrison had an animal complaint on CR 1541. The party stated their neighbor’s dogs bark all the time. They also sound like they are hurting each other. Morrison checked on the dogs, who appeared healthy. The owner has also attempted to get the dogs to stop barking, but has had no luck.

Deputy Morrison made contact with a party who stated his estranged wife came to his residence recently and took some items. He was informed because she was a resident there for many years, she still had access to the property.

Deputy Andrew Rapp responded to CR 3460 for a disturbance in progress. In speaking with the two individuals involved, they admitted to having a physical altercation and did not wish to press charges. They separated for the night.

Deputy Jonah Croney and Sgt. Corbin Hanner were dispatched to CR 4490 for two intoxicated females in a physical altercation. The altercation was mutual combat, and neither party wished to press charges. One female left the location for the evening.

Deputy John Cooper went to CR 2210 for a violation of a protective order. The party stated she and her son were protected parties in an emergency protective order. She was claiming her husband had been in contact with their son. Upon reviewing the protective order, the son was not listed as a protected person and was allowed to speak with his dad.

Deputy Cooper had an inquest on FM 1804. The justice of the peace and funeral home were contacted.

January 1

Deputy Morrison had a request to speak regarding a civil issue. The individual stated she loaned someone some money. They paid back half the money and are not making payments anymore. She was told the matter would be civil since she loaned the money willingly.

Deputy Morrison took a harassment report. The party stated she was at a location when two male subjects arrived and began filming her. She said she left the location and was followed by the men. The incident was documented for future reference.

Deputy Jonah Croney responded to a noise complaint on CR 4506. The individuals advised they would turn their music down.

Deputy Croney was dispatched to CR 4990 for a noise complaint. The individuals stated they were going to bed and would turn off the music.

Deputy Morrison and Deputy Benjamin Whisenhunt were dispatched to CR 1503 for a possible sexual harassment. In speaking with the reporting party, it was determined that no offense occurred.

Deputy Jim Rapp had an abandoned dogs call on CR 2655. The party stated someone dropped off a mother dog and puppies sometime during the evening. She was able to provide evidence of who dumped the dogs. The case will be forwarded to CID.

Deputy Croney was notified of a disturbance on Wildwood Trails. He made contact with parties involved.  A female advised she got into a verbal altercation with their brother. She stated she just wanted to leave and go to her father’s house. Her mother advised she would get with the father and arrange for her to go there.

Deputy Croney was dispatched to CR 4627 for a burglary report. The party stated his tractor’s fuel has been siphoned from its tank. He only wished to have the incident documented.

Deputy Andrew Rapp took a call from CR 2248 regarding a civil matter. The party stated he was in a verbal dispute with another individual regarding a dog. Both parties were advised it was civil and they would need to work it out or contact attorneys.

Deputy Morrison had a disturbance call on CR 2210. The party was a juvenile male who stated his brother assaulted him. When Morrison arrived, he spoke with both individuals and their mother. No charges were filed and both parties were left in the care of their mother.

January 2

Deputy Pollard had an alarm call on CR 5980. The location was checked and all doors were secure.

Deputy Pollard responded to an alarm call on FM 779. She checked the location and found all the doors secure.

Deputy Whisenhunt went to Hwy. 154 for a deceased individual. The justice of the peace and funeral home were contacted to respond.

January 3

Deputy Croney had a disturbance call on CR 4470. The reporting stated they could not control their 16-year-old son. Croney was able to give them information to assist in their situation. The juvenile was taken to the hospital for a mental health evaluation.

Deputy Pollard responded to FM 17 where a vehicle was stopped in the middle of the roadway, running. The driver and passenger of the vehicle were asleep. A firearm was located in plain view. Gary Joe Rogers, 42, of Marlin, was arrested for unlawful carrying weapon.

Deputy Williams met with an individual in the lobby of the sheriff’s office regarding a missing person. The party stated her husband, who has dementia, was missing. Williams was able to use On-Star to locate the vehicle. He was found in another county by law enforcement. The party picked him up safely.

Deputy Williams took a report of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. The party stated one of his employees, who has a take-home vehicle, did not show up for work. When he looked into the whereabouts of the vehicle, it was showing to be in Oklahoma. The party did not wish for Williams to contact the employee. Notes were filed for future reference.

Deputy Jim Rapp took a phone report for an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. The reporting party stated her vehicle was stolen from her house. She gave the information for the individual who took the car. She stated the car was believed to be in Arkansas.

Sgt. Bailey met with an individual in the lobby of the sheriff’s office. The party stated her juvenile niece, who she cares for, told her that she found nude photographs of herself on her uncle’s phone. James Albert Enoch, 70, of Quitman was arrested for invasive visual recording and possession or promotion of lewd material depicting children.

Deputy Williams responded to PR 8571 in reference to a theft. The party stated a warehouse was broken into and numerous items were damaged. At the time of the report, they did not wish to press charges but wanted the report for future reference.

Deputy Williams had a welfare concern on CR 4560. The party wanted someone to check on his daughter. The daughter was found to be fine.

Deputy Rapp went to Big Wood Springs for an illegal dumping call. The party stated it appears the location is not being lived in, and she believes people have started dumping there illegally.

Deputy Bradley Cox took a request to speak regarding someone defecating in his parking lot and on the wall of his business. He was wanting information as to what could be done.

Deputy Jeff Baldwin spoke with someone reporting their log splitter stolen. They did not wish to press charges but only wanted the incident documented.

January 4

Deputy Williams responded to a disturbance on Hwy. 37. It was a verbal dispute and the parties separated.

Sgt. Bailey was dispatched to FM 17 in reference to a welfare check. It was reported that no one had been able to contact the individual since Jan. 1. Upon entry into the residence, they located the individual deceased. The justice of the peace and funeral home were contacted.

Sgt. Heather Bailey spoke with an individual on FM 17. She stated her ex-boyfriend showed up and refused to leave. The male said he was just there to pick up some property. He was advised not to come back today and make arrangements to pick up the property.

Deputy Rapp was dispatched to CR 3940 for a burglary call. The party stated the back window of his residence was broken out and entrance was gained. A possible suspect was given. The case will be forwarded to investigators.

Deputy Brad Cox took a request to speak regarding an incident that occurred a few weeks ago. The party stated he was involved in an accident where he was riding his bicycle on the roadway and was struck by a vehicle.  The man believes it was an incident of road rage. Cox attempted to try to help the individual, as much as he could, but it will be a civil issue.

Deputy Cox had an inquest on FM 778. The funeral home and justice of the peace were contacted.

Deputy Williams spoke with an individual regarding a harassment. He stated his daughter has been harassed by the suspect in an ongoing case. Williams spoke with him and gave him some options since he didn’t have enough information for a report.

Deputy Rapp took a phone report of a civil matter. The party stated she just moved out of her ex-boyfriend’s house that day, and he won’t allow her to return to get her freezer. Rapp was able to help the individuals come to an agreement.
