Wood County Sheriff’s Report

March 1

Cpl. Cooper, Deputy Rapp, criminal mischief, CR 4870; cemetery president stated multiple headstones damaged, case forwarded to investigations.

Sgt. Morrison, Cpl. Cooper, Deputy Rapp , warrant service, CR 4930. Joe Cole, 51, Quitman arrested for outstanding warrant, possession of controlled substance.

Cpl. Cooper, Deputy Way, suspicious person, CR 2650; female laying near road appeared intoxicated. Kacey Powell, 22, Tyler arrested for public intoxication.

Sgt. Williams, FM 2966; victim stated as she pulled up to her house, male took off running from yard, into woods. No damage observed, male not located.

Deputy Way, burglary, CR 3580; victim stated front door open, ring missing from house, case forwarded to investigations.

Cpl. Rapp, suspicious person, CR 2655; vehicle that victim did not recognize pulled out of property, items stolen, suspect’s license plate captured.

Three animal calls, two transports.

March 2

Deputy Croney, Deputy Comeaux, adult probation; officer observed male attempt to falsify drug test. Dalton Adams, 22, Mineola arrested for falsifying official drug test.

Sgt. Morrison, Deputy Croney, Deputy Comeaux; warrant service, driver’s license office. James Carver, 37, Grand Saline, arrested for outstanding warrant.

Deputy Rapp, theft; caller advised neighbor told her trailer missing from residence, no one had permission to take trailer, case forwarded to investigations.

Cpl. Rapp assisted Mineola police; male had knife and gun, was hallucinating, suspect put gun up, still had knife. Deputies detained subject, transported for treatment.

March 3

Deputy Arellano, theft, CR 2164; someone stole copper wire from two trailer houses, did not have possible suspect.

Deputy Hughes, Cpl. Mayer, animal complaint, County Road 1917; neighbor’s horse got into pasture, horse owner contacted, given citation.

Deputy Arellano, disturbance, CR 4930; verbal only, nothing physical.

Deputy Arellano, welfare check; caller’s friend chased while driving, deputy searched for vehicle, driver found to be intoxicated, marijuana discovered on driver at jail. Adam Webb, 44, Winnsboro arrested for public intoxication, prohibited substance in correctional facility.

Sgt. Cox, criminal trespass; issued criminal trespass to suspect by phone, suspect advised would come in later to report vehicle damage.

March 4

Sgt. Cox, Cpl. Baldwin, animal complaint, Yantis; cows that keep getting out back on victim’s property. Deputies did not observe cows on caller’s property. 

Deputy Hughes, disturbance, County Road 1858; suspect advised wife had been drinking, causing problems. Parties agreed to separate for night.

Deputy Hughes, fence down, County Road 4860; multiple cows out, property owner notified, got cows back in. No vehicle located at scene of crash.

Multiple animal calls, one agency assist.

March 5

Sgt. Cox, Cpl. Baldwin, cows out, County Road 1900; deputies able to get cows back where they belong, owner issued another citation. Deputies have responded to location 10 times this year for cows out. 

Cpl. Baldwin, Deputy Gould, assault, Holiday Villages; caller advised son-in-law jumped on her pregnant daughter with all his weight. Joseph Sunken, 18, California arrested for assault on a pregnant person.

Deputy Kovic, theft, Holly Lake Ranch; manager provided security footage of female stealing items from store, manager wished to have female criminally trespassed from store.

Sgt. Skinner, Deputy Gould, disturbance, County Road 3494; victim’s brother having mental issues, hallucinating, suspect transported to receive treatment.

Deputy Arellano observed male hide when he drove by, tried to make contact with subject, fled on foot. Deputy located male who fled again, detained. Donald Williams, 44, Terrell arrested, outstanding pardon and parole warrant for murder/homicide. 

Deputy Hughes, Deputy Arellano, disturbance, County Road 1298; victim came to residence to get belongings, female pointed gun at him, female stated the male wouldn’t leave residence so she pointed gun. Neither wished to pursue charges.

March 6

Cpl. Cooper, traffic stop, County Road 4220; driver showed signs of nervousness, gave consent to search vehicle. Deputy located jar containing crystal-like substance. Cole Weems, 46, Winnsboro arrested for possession of controlled substance.

Deputy Croney, Deputy Comeaux, warrant service at adult probation. Daysie Vaughn, 25, Winnsboro arrested for outstanding warrant. 

Cpl. Cooper, burglary, Hwy. 154; victim observed female break into camper, provided suspect’s license plate, case forwarded to investigations.

Sgt. Morrison, Cpl. Cooper, disturbance, County Road 1987; during argument, victim’s husband grabbed her wrist and neck area. Mike Landgren, 70, Yantis arrested for assault.

Sgt. Morrison, Cpl. Cooper, Deputy Pollard, incident, Hwy. 69; female possibly jumped out of vehicle causing bodily injury, incident report will be completed.

Deputy Burdick, missing juvenile, County Road 4536; parents gave deputies information where juveniles might be, located, brought back to residence.

March 7

Sgt. Morrison, Cpl. Cooper, warrant service, Mineola. Melisa Seay, 54, Mineola arrested for outstanding warrant.

Cpl. Cooper, theft; someone stole firearm from caller’s vehicle during night, entered as stolen, case forwarded to investigations.

Deputy Way, stolen vehicle, FM 17; stolen from front yard, entered as stolen, case forwarded to investigations.

Deputy Pollard, civil standby, Hwy. 69; homeowner began making threats, deputy left, offense report will be completed.
