Wood County Sheriff’s Report
March 12
Sgt. Morrison, Deputy Pollard, Deputy Hammond, disturbance, FM 1643; caller advised son struck her in face with water bottle causing injury, suspect had fled, CPS notified for children at location, offense report completed.
Deputy George, theft report, CR 2920; someone stole license plates off victim’s vehicle, plates entered as stolen.
Deputy Beck, Deputy Gloar, suspicious person, FM 49; when caller arrived home, fence was cut, he could hear shots being fired near property, deputies located male subject with firearm who advised he had shot a hog, deputies confirmed caller did not own the property, parties separated.
March 13
Sgt. Morrison, Deputy Hammond, traffic hazard, CR 2800; deputies located vehicle partially in roadway with significant damage, vehicle owner contacted, advised he allowed friend to borrow vehicle, troopers notified, driver arrested for duty on striking fixture.
Lt. Milbourn, Deputy Whisenhunt, vehicle accident, FM 2869. Deputies assisted in traffic control.
Deputy Beck, Deputy Gloar, disturbance, Hawkins; male and female advised they were in argument that turned physical. Deputies discovered both subjects had previous history of assaults on each other. Donnell Garner and Krista Thomas arrested for assault.
March 14
Sgt. Cox, attempted theft; caller advised during night, someone attempted to steal son’s truck, address was added to extra patrol.
Cpl. Skinner, Deputy Williams, suicidal subject; subject intoxicated, making suicidal statements, transported by EMS to receive treatment.
Lt. Kovic, Deputy Williams, Winnsboro PD, assault; driver advised she and friend got into verbal altercation while driving, she struck her friend multiple times. Melinda Garrett arrested for assault.
March 15
Deputy Smith, Deputy Haney, disturbance, CR 2195; father advised he and son got into altercation that became physical, father pushed son through a wall. Richard Henderson arrested for assault.
Cpl. Skinner, burglary, CR 1977; multiple items stolen from property, list of missing items will be provided, case forwarded to investigations.
Lt. Kovic, Sgt. Cox, Deputy Williams, disturbance, Private Road 5679; deputies determined suspect, Misty Williams, stabbed her common law husband with pair of scissors in the back, struck him with power drill. Williams was taken into custody for aggravated assault with deadly weapon.
March 16
Sgt. Cox, Cpl. Skinner, disturbance, CR 4440; deputies discovered male subject was in violation of bond conditions due to being in contact with protected person, suspect became irate, attempted to go back into residence, suspect struck both deputies multiple times before being taken into custody. James Short arrested for assault on peace officer, terroristic threat, resisting arrest and violation of bond conditions.
Deputy Haley, animal issue; several dogs on caller’s property caused damage to chicken coop, killed several chickens, caller advised he shot one dog, would dispose of it.
Deputy Haley, assault, FM 14; victim and neighbor got into argument, wants to file report for previous assault, case forwarded to investigations.
March 17
Deputy Hammond, theft; someone stole golf cart off lot, golf cart information provided, offense report completed.
Cpl. Rich, possible scam; party received call from person claiming to be with Yantis PD, trying to find a person, advised call was a scam.
Deputy Whisenhunt, agency assist, Hwy. 154; person in the water who had either fallen out of their boat or off the pier, subject removed from water, EMS checked subject.
March 18
Deputy Hammond, warrant service, Adult Probation. Avantae Sims arrested for active warrant.
Deputy Hammond, Deputy George, warrant service, CR 1676. Tina Thompson arrested for active warrant.
Sgt. Williams, fraud; three unauthorized charges appeared on victim’s bank account, all three charges were unsuccessful, offense report completed.
