Wood County Sheriff’s Report
June 4
Deputies responded twice to disturbance, CR 1112; both times, involved subjects highly intoxicated, victim stated she locked boyfriend out of house due to being scared of what he might do to her. Austin Guetter arrested for assault by threat.
Cpl. Rich, Deputy Gloar, shots fired, Hwy. 37; caller’s neighbor outside firing shots at the ground, offense report completed.
Sgt. Williams, Cpl. Rich, Deputy Gloar, assault, Yantis; caller advised he had been assaulted by father with baseball bat, father advised he had been asleep, victim checked by EMS, advised he did not know how he was injured.
June 5
Deputy Way, dog bite, Quitman ER; victim cleaning a house, dog bit her on leg, proof of vaccination provided.
Deputy Beck, agency assist, CR 2120; EMS call, elderly female unresponsive, family not doing CPR, EMS took subject.
Deputy Smith, disturbance, Hawkins; caller’s son causing disturbance, destroying things, before deputies arrived, son left residence in vehicle.
June 6
Deputy Haley, possible court order violation caller had a court order to get list of items inside residence, ex-wife sent text saying she needed to reschedule, ex-wife was advised she could be found in violation of court order, caller advised to contact his attorney.
Deputy Haley, assault; victim wanted to report assault, harassment, before deputy’s arrival, victim left, advised she could not wait on deputy.
Deputies responded to Lake Quitman, possible drowning; witnesses stated subject had not been in water very long. Deputies entered water looking for subject while dive teams were en route., subject located under water, autopsy ordered.
June 7
Deputy Haley, welfare concern, FM 49; elderly female standing in ditch, deputies transported to ER, family contacted, did not know she had left residence, APS contacted.
Sgt. Burdick, Deputy Haley, disturbance, possible shots fired, CR 3940; deputies spoke with male who was agitated, advised he and girlfriend were at odds, female who stated no disturbance occurred.
Deputies, physical disturbance, CR 1570; two females advised they got into physical argument, one’s boyfriends grabbed the other by the hair, threw her against vehicle. Michael Scott arrested for assault.
June 8
Sgt. Cox, overdose, Holly Lake Ranch; responded to this address once previously for same issue, subject transported to receive treatment, mother has plan for extra treatment.
Deputies, burglary in progress, FM 1799; deputies located female, Rita Deweese, arrested for criminal trespass, no signs of forced entry observed.
Deputy Hammond, burglary, CR 4830; caller inherited property from father, brother took items, all but one item returned, plan in place to get item returned.
Deputy Williams, Deputy Tustin, assault, Hwy. 37; victim stated another female assaulted her. Nikki Hobbs arrested for assault.
June 9
Deputies, disturbance, CR 3940; while attempting to issue criminal trespass warning, Deputy Whisenhunt heard gunshots. Vernon Phillips arrested for deadly conduct, resisting arrest.
Deputy Way, harassment, CR 4420; subjects showed up at residence to fight, had left scene upon deputy’s arrival.
Cpl. Rich, Deputy Beck, disturbance, CR 1560; victim advised her child’s father assaulted her, suspect admitted hitting the victim, offense report completed, CPS contacted.
June 10
Deputy Whisenhunt, burglary, Hawkins; offense report completed, forwarded to Hawkins PD.
Deputies performed warrant service, CR 1560. Judy Smith, James Mountfield arrested on active warrants.
Deputies responded to Holly Lake Ranch to issue emergency protection order; issued order without issue.
