Wreaths honoring veterans
The Wreaths Across America program came to Mineola Saturday as volunteers placed Christmas wreaths on the graves of 677 veterans buried at Roselawn Cemetery north of Mineola, after a brief ceremony at Beaty Funeral Home.
The Mineola detachment of the Marine Corps League headed up the effort to bring the program to Mineola.
Some other cemeteries in the county have been participants in recent years.
Donations fund the purchase of the wreaths, and individuals are given the opportunity to place wreaths on specific graves, upon request.
