The Alba-Golden cross country team got up early last Saturday to beat the heat with early starts at the Braden Lynch Memorial races at Lone Oak High School.

Brandt Peterson led the boys team with a tenth-place finish in the 5,000-meter race.

He crossed the line with a time of 20 minutes, 17.69 seconds. Ty Rotan of Edgewood won the race with a time of 17:36.12. 

The boys team of Peterson, Elijah Backer, Carson Pierce, Luier Ramos and Collin Nichols merited a combined seventh-place finish. 

The Lady Panthers were led by Peyton Clark who logged a seventh-place finish with an individual time of 15:06.16 in the 3,200-meter race. Sophia Richardson, Halle Peterson and Tayla Peterson rounded out the Lady Panthers team. Kelly Laine of Winnsboro won the varsity girls race with a time of 13:42.82. 

Alba-Golden cross-country teams next compete in Lindale on Thursday, Oct. 3. The district meet is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 9.
