Yantis man dies in 1-vehicle traffic crash
A Yantis man died in a single vehicle traffic crash on Wednesday morning, Nov. 23 five miles east of Yantis.
According to the preliminary Dept. of Public Safety investigation, Darryl Johnson, 47, was killed when the 2006 Honda Pilot he was driving left the roadway to the right and struck a tree.
He was westbound on FM 514 at 8:20 a.m. in a 60-mile an hour speed zone. It was raining and the road was wet.
Justice of the Peace Tony Gilbreath ruled on the death at the scene.
Trooper Gary Hayes of the DPS in Emory investigated.
